NFL Mock Draft: Take Two

Old AccountApr 11, 2009

With the NFL Draft quickly approaching, more buzz is forming around the league. Where will Mark Sanchez land? Who shall the Lions take with the first overall pick? Will anybody trade you into the top five? Here is edition two of the NFL Mock Draft.

1. Detroit Lions: Matthew Stafford QB

Weeks ago, the Lions choice was up in the air, as they were not sold on Stafford. Now ere in the month of April, and after a few workouts, the Lions are prepared to take Stafford. One Culpepper-less season would be a plus for the winless Lions.

2.  St. Louis Rams: Jason Smith OT

This has been probably one of the only picks in the draft that has not changed. With a pitiful offensive line, including their veteran leader Orlando Pace moving to the Bears, the Rams hope that Smith can have as good of a rookie season as Miami's Jake Long.

3. Kansas City Chiefs: Aaron Curry LB

The Kansas City Chiefs will end their busy offseason by selecting Aaron Curry from Wake Forest. The Chiefs, including myself, believe this is a steal. Getting arguably the best player in the draft by many of us, they hope Curry can be the centerpiece of their defense, like Ray Lewis has with the Ravens.

4. Seattle Seahawks: Eugene Monroe OT

Recent reports have said that the Seahawks will select Mark Sanchez at this pick; I don't buy it. The Hawks will tough it out one more year with Hasselbeck, knowing they'll be in a good position to take a better QB from next years class.

The team faced ton of injuries last year, especially their Quaterback. Seattle will start reloading on the O-line, by selecting the next best avial in Monroe.

5. Cleveland Browns: Michael Crabtree WR

The Browns get their man! With the recent trade talks involving their top wide out in Braylon Edwards, this is a good move for the Browns, especially with his contract expiring next season. They get a sure thing in Crabtree, who should be getting passes from Brady Quinn.

6. Cincinnati Bengals: Brian Orakpo DE

With the recent signing of Tank Johnson, the reports of them selecting B.J Raji are nonexistent. Yet, who said they still can't go on the defensive side? The defense is the biggest of the woes for the Bengals, and bringing in Orakpo would be the fit.

7. Oakland Raiders: Jeremy Maclin WR

Pretty obvious pick here by the Raiders. They need a playmaker on the WR side, and they shall certainly get that with Maclin. Watch out for this years Raiders!

8. Jacksonville Jaguars: Malcolm Jenkins CB

With the defensive being a disappointment last year, the Jaguars take the best Cornerback in the draft, who will help them improve on their 24th pass defense.

9. Green Bay Packers: BJ Raji DT

The Packers need to revamp parts of their defense after last years season. Selecting Raji will give big improvement at the line, which should help A.J Hawk and company have a better outing next year.

10. San Francisco 49ers: Andre Smith OT

It has been a quiet time in the life of Andre Smith since his fallout at the combine. Luckily, San Francisco gets a very good lineman in Smith, who will have a chip on his shoulder heading into his rookie season.

11. Buffalo Bills: Michael Oher OT

After adding Owens to the offense this offseason, the Bills need some improvement on the O-Line. Buffalo will invest in Oher, who they hope can make an impact in their quest to an AFC East Title.

12. Denver Broncos: Aaron Maybin DE

Now that the Jay Cutler fiasco is over, Denver gets to focus on the draft. Their biggest need of course is on the defensive side. Bringing in Maybin should do the trick.

13. Washington Redskins: Percy Harvin WR

Under second-year head coach Jim Zorn, and Jason Campbell who is on the rise, the Skins need to find a vertical player on offense, that is to their liking as well as Dan. The addition of Percy Harvin would be a big threat to accompany Moss, along with Clinton Portis.

14. New Orleans Saints: Tyson Jackson DE

Lucky for Jackson, he gets to play in the state and stadium he is used to. The Saints still need to improve on the defensive side. Tyson Jackson will help the Saints improve their pass rush.

15. Houston Texans: Everette Brown DE

The Texans will go on the defensive rout with this pick. Brown should be a good accompaniment to Mario Williams on the other side of the line.

16. San Diego Chargers: Clay Matthews LB

The Chargers will look for a solid defensive player. With no DE'S left that are worthy of the pick, taking Matthews from USC will be a good one-two punch of linebackers when Merriman returns.

17. New York Jets: Mark Sanchez QB

The Jets get their QB heading into the '09-'10 season as Sanchez falls to them.

18. Denver Broncos: Rey Maulaluga LB

Using the pick they got in the Cutler trade, Denver will take Maualuga, who they hope will be a big contributor in their new defensive schemes.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Josh Freeman QB

They lost out on Cutler. They released Garcia. They need a QB! Selecting Freeman will be a fresh start in Tampa on the offensive side.

20. Detroit Lions: Knowshown Moreno RB

The Lions would love to get a play-maker like Moreno at this pick. Stafford and Moreno reunite!

21. Philadelphia Eagles: Hakeem Nicks WR

The Eagles need a pass threat down the field. Taking the strong power Nicks who will be a combination alongside Jackson.

22. Minnesota Vikings: Vontae Davis CB

Minnesota would love to add a young Cornerback to their already solid defense. Davis will help void the small holes they have at the CB spot, and to solidify the defense.

23. New England Patriots: Brian Cushing LB

The Patriots have some improvements to make on the defense, particularly at the Linebacker position. After missing out on Matthews, Cushing falls to them, a good new centerpiece.

24. Atlanta Falcons: Peria Jerry DT

After coming off an amazing season, the Falcons head to the draft with needing to improve the defensive line, led by John Abraham who is aging. A smart move my Atlanta to take Jerr.

25. Miami Dolphins: Alphonso Smith CB

The Dolphins will select Smith, a cornerback with good upside. The Dolphins are a defensive team. And they will build on that with Smith.

26. Baltimore Ravens: Darrius Heyward-Bey WR

The Ravens need to start building around the talent of franchise QB Joe Flacco. Darrius stays in the state of Maryland, and will bring great speed along with Mason and Clayton.

27. Indianapolis Colts: Kenny Britt WR

Probably one of the bigger surprises in the draft, is Britt getting selected in the first round, as his stock rises. Britt thankfully lands with a future Hall Of Famer, and has to fill the big shoes Harrisson and Wayne used to have.

28. Philadelphia Eagles: Louis Elmas S

With the departure of Dawkins, they need a replacement to fill the void, which they feel is Elmas, the best safety in the draft.

29. New York Giants: Donald Brown RB

With the departures of key offensive players, which include Plaxico and Ward, the Giants need to find an offensive guy. The Giants can use Brown, who is climbing up teams draft boards, and will replace Ward in the backfield with Jacobs.

30. Tennessee Titans: Brandon Pettigrew TE

Wow, what a steal for the Titans. Not only is he the best Tight End in the draft, but rated highly by many of the teams around the league, he falls to the Titans, who need to bring more offensive talent to the table.

31. Arizona Cardinals: Larry English LB

The Cardinals need to continue improving on the defensive side. Bringing in English, a solid LB will hopefully help the Cards as they make strides from last years playoff run.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers: Eben Britton OT

The Steelers are looking to improve an offensive line that still was sack-heavy this season. Luckily, this years class is deep, and snag a sleeper in Eben Britton to end this year's first round.
