For the first time in almost four years, the Sox are two games under .500.

They have scored only 13 runs in the four games they have played and given up 20 for a nice round ERA of 5.00.

The hitters (other than Youkilis and his .625 batting average) are swinging through off-speed pitches where they were looking for fastballs.

Jed Lowrie is 1-for-15 with 7 Ks, and there are actually people on this planet who are hopefully waiting for Julio Lugo to return from the DL. Jacoby Ellsbury has still not gotten the ball out of the infield, J.D. Drew is 1-for-11, and David Ortiz looks like a six-year-old who is afraid of the ball.

But Jason Varitek is still on pace for 81 dingers; Josh Beckett is back to his ass-kicking self—like he is in all odd-numbered years; and it's still April, so we know the Sheriff (Dusty Pete) is just warming up.

At some point, all of the rockets the guys have been hitting into people's gloves (look at the sac fly Ortiz hit last night) will start to fall in. One good offensive explosion game at this point in the season is all that we need to turn it around.

I have no complaints about the loss last night (even if it was my birthday).
Before the game, both SMC and I knew that this one was going the Angels way because the baseball gods are never unjust. They create balance in the baseball world.
Losing a teammate is the hardest thing that can happen to a club over the course of the long season, and the Angels deserved to pull one out for the guy who had gotten them a win only two days before. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Nick Adenhart, and I wish the Sox had gotten the chance to beat him.
