Victor Cruz Negotiations Still in a Stalemate, and More NFC East News

Jun 6, 2018

In exactly two weeks, Victor Cruz will become a restricted free agent. Of course, that's unless the New York Giants can reach a long-term deal with their top receiver before then. The problem is that even after months of on-and-off discussions, neither side appears to be willing to budge on terms.ย

"Hopefully we can end that talk soon, man," Cruz told MassLive.com on Saturday, per Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. "Hopefully we can get a deal done, if not with the Giants then unfortunately somewhere else. But I want to be a Giant for a long time, so we'll see how it goes."

There's a good chance this isn't urgent. If Cruz is hit with a first-round tender in lieu of a long-term deal, it's highly unlikely he goes anywhere this offseason. However, the chance does exist, so I'm sure the Giants would rather avoid having to go down that road, especially with very little money to match a substantial offer.ย

Cruz won't rule out playing "somewhere else."

On to what else is being talked about in the NFC East...

Dallas Cowboys

From ESPNNewYork.com's Ohm Youngmisuk: Mathias Kiwanuka has helped the team out by restructuring his deal.ย

From the Associated Press via Newsday: John Mara's nephew has been arrested.ย

From Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer: With Cullen Jenkins and Mike Patterson gone, could Nnamdi Asomugha be next?

From CSN Philly's Reuben Frank: Philly nativeย Sharrif Floyd could be a top-five pick for the Eagles.ย

From Mike Jones of the Washington Post: The 'Skins have hired former Chargers general manager A.J. Smith as an adviser.

From Rich Campbell of the Washington Times: The focus has to be on the secondary.
