Angels Play Inspired Baseball in Tribute to Fallen Teammate Nick Adenhart

Matt DolloffApr 11, 2009
Last night’s game between the Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox was about much more than baseball. The Angels lost a teammate in Nick Adenhart, but more importantly, a family has lost a son and a brother.
His teammates will never forget his presence, as they will wear a patch with Adenhart’s No. 34 on their jerseys, keep his picture and number on the center field wall, and keep his locker intact for the entire season.

Along with two other people, Adenhart was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Thursday morning.

The perpetrator, Andrew Gallo, faces up to 55 years in prison for charges of vehicular manslaughter, fleeing the scene of a fatal accident, and driving under the influence.

After paying a poignant tribute to the 22-year-old Adenhart, the Angels came together as a team to defeat the Red Sox 6-3 in an excellent all-around performance.

Jered Weaver allowed just one unearned run in 6.2 innings of work, and three-four hitters Bobby Abreu and Vladimir Guerrero combined to go 5-for-8 with two runs scored.

The video highlights of the game include the pregame tributes to Adenhart.

After the game, Torii Hunter and Weaver spoke about their fallen teammate and what it means for their team this season.
