Elisha Shaw to Alabama: Crimson Tide Land 3-Star DT Prospect

Richard LangfordFeb 5, 2014

Elisha Shaw is going to bring his giant frame to the defensive line of Alabama. This is a prospect with the ability to make an instant impact while possessing the potential to be a star.

Shaw's high school brings us the news of his commitment.

Shaw, a 3-star prospect with room to develop even further, is a 6'4.5", 295-pound defensive tackle out of Tucker High School in Georgia, and he was receiving plenty of attention on the recruiting trail.

In 247Sports' composite rankings, Shaw is ranked No. 36 at his position in the country, and he is the No. 38 overall recruit in the state of Georgia. There is little doubt he will be able to stay on the interior of the defensive line in college.

Shaw is a relatively lean 295 pounds, but he has plenty of room to add bulk to his long frame. Potentially, he has the kind of body that could support the mass needed to be an effective nose tackle in the NFL, provided he puts in the appropriate work and training.

As he is now, he still has the tools to make an impact at the college level from Day 1.

Facing a constant barrage of extra blockers as a junior at Tucker, Shaw registered 28 tackles while clogging the middle of the line.

He also displayed his explosiveness while tallying six sacks.

Shaw has impressive natural strength, and he will be able to instantly clog run lanes and occupy blockers at the collegiate level.

He will have to learn to use his hands and continue to add strength to be the kind of interior presence that can wreak havoc in the backfield, but that potential is definitely there.
