WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship 2013: Day 4 Bracket, Highlights and More

Ben ChodosJun 8, 2018

The players at the 2013 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship pulled double duty to make up for lost time due to snow earlier in the week. The third and fourth rounds were played on Saturday, and now the field is down to just four players.

Bubba Watson was the only top-10 seed still standing on the fourth day of the tournament, and Jason Day ensured that one of the underdogs would take home the title in Arizona.

The 25-year-old Australian beat last year's Masters winner to pull off the biggest upset of the day. However, the victory pales in comparison to the surprising results that have characterized the tournament thus far.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy exited on Day 1, and Luke Donald and Louis Oosthuizen—the other top seeds—left a day later.

With the stars out of the action, the field was wide open. No one took advantage of this more than Ian Poulter, who cruised past Tim Clark in Round 3 and Steve Stricker in the quarterfinals.

But defending champion Hunter Mahan is still in the mix, with Matt Kuchar and Day rounding out the semifinalists. These four are sure to produce exciting action on the final day in Arizona.

Highlights

While all the semifinalists will be proud of their performances, today belonged to Ian Poulter. The highlight below from the sixth hole during his quarterfinal matchup with Steve Stricker shows why.

Back to Poulter for an excellent putt for eagle on the eighth hole. This was another one of the many reasons Stricker could not beat him in the quarterfinals.
