Nick Adenhart Killed In Car Crash

Ryan HallamApr 9, 2009

The sports world mourns the loss of one of their bright young stars today.

Angels’ rookie Nick Adenhart was killed by a drunk driver shortly after finishing his best start in his young Major League career.  But this is not about baseball.  Sure, Adenhart was one of the better pitching prospects in all of baseball, but let’s just forget about sports for a second.

Three people have lost their lives because of one person’s utter stupidity.  To make this even worse, not only was the driver of the other car drunk, not only did he run a red light, but the kid also had a suspended license.

Why did he have a suspended license?  From a previous drunk driving arrest!  This man should, and will, be locked away for a long time now and won’t be able to do this again.

What is wrong with people?  Do you not learn from previous mistakes?  Does it take the loss of life before we learn a lesson? Not only did this piece of s@!t drink and drive and kill three people (with another in critical condition), but he tried to flee the scene of the crash.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Adenhart family, as well as the other two people killed in the crash, Henry Pearson, and the driver, 20-year-old Courtney Stewart.

It is also a shame that these two people have lost their lives, but get absolutely no publicity because of who Adenhart is. There isn’t too much to say based on the preliminary information that is available.

This is a senseless tragedy that has cost the life of three young people.  I can not begin to imagine the grief that their families are feeling, and again, my prayers are with you.

Adenhart was a hell of a pitcher with a great future ahead of him, but this is always puts life in perspective.  No matter how bad your situation might be, we all certainly have plenty to be thankful for.

As a parent of two young children, I hope I never have to go through a time like these poor people are.  My sincere condolences are with them all.  And may they throw the book at the drunk driver.
