The Trenton Thunder AA affiliate of the New York Yankees opened their season last night, losing to the Binghamton Mets by the score of 5-3.

Erik Hacker got the start and went 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and one run with one walk and two strikeouts. He was in camp with the major league club this year and Jorge Posada said he is a guy to watch for.
The other Yankee pitchers didn't fare so well. Kevin Whelan pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with one walk and two strikeouts and Mike Dunn pitched two innings giving up four hits, two runs, only one of which was earned, and five strikeouts.

He was also in major league camp and did impress some, he is worth watching but I am not sure how much of a prospect he is, he was converted to a reliever from starting.

The offensive side didn't produce much as no player had more then one hit, Colin Curtis did have a double and Eduardo Nunez had a hit. I am not too sure how many legit position prospects are at this level, I think you can look more at AAA and A for that.

The rest of the minor league affiliates kick off their seasons tonight. The Scranton Yankees play Lehigh Valley with Jason Johnson making the start. Austin Jackson will be in CF and they also have Shelly Duncan to watch.
