Who's the Better Footballer: Messi Or Ronaldo?

Right now, the biggest argument in European soccer concerns a critical evaluation.

Who's better: Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?

The consensus is that they're the two best players in the world, and they both play for two of the biggest clubs on the planet (Ronaldo for Manchester United, Messi for FC Barcelona).

Also, both have won the UEFA Champions League (considered to be the biggest yearly championship in all of sports), and each has won at least one league title for their respective associations (Messi has won La Liga two times, the same with Ronaldo, who also has won the Premier League two times).

Now, because both players are still not in their prime (and won't be for several more years), the debate that currently rages is more about who will be better.

Well, in my opinion, Cristiano Ronaldo is and will be a better soccer player than Lionel Messi, mainly because he can do more than Messi while on the pitch. Add in the fact that he's the best player on Man U (which is possibly is the best team in the world), and that makes him just about the best...period.

Also, if Ronaldo played on a different team (perhaps one that was liked more than Manchester), he would gain even more praise, and that would make this into a one-sided contest. Right now, it might just be the prejudices against the club that he plays for that are making this question tough.

Now, don't get me wrong: I think that Messi is the best Argentine player since Diego Maradona (who also played for FC Barcelona), and I know that he is also the best soccer player in La Liga. But he can't contend with Ronaldo in terms of raw talent.
