Ermon Lane to Florida: Gators Land 5-Star WR Prospect

Ryan RudnanskyJun 5, 2018

The Florida Gators have landed 5-star wide receiver Ermon Lane, according to Zach Abolverdi of GatorSports.com:

Lane, a Florida native, was courted by numerous big-time programs throughout the recruiting process, ranging from the SEC to the ACC. That included defending champion Alabama, the Gators and Florida State.

The hype surrounding him is certainly valid.

The 6'3", 193-pounder was named a Second Team All-American by 247Sports in February after an impressive junior season at Homestead High. He caught 30 balls for 801 yards and eight touchdowns, per 247Sports.

Lane has coveted height and athleticism for the wide receiver position. He creates separation with his combination of speed, fluidity and route-running ability. He's also a serious threat on jump balls given his eye-opening leaping skills.

Beyond that, Lane has a natural feel for the game, which was evident early in his high school career.

As a bigger receiver, his ability to accelerate out of cuts with ease is particularly impressive. Still, he has plenty of room to continue growing technically in addition to filling out physically.

The sky is the limit in terms of Lane's long-term potential in football.

Ermon Lane has the talent to step in early at the next level. Ranked No. 16 prospect overall and the No. 1 receiver by 247Sports' composite rankings, it's no wonder he's been one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2014 class.

Watch out for this tall, athletic receiver out of Homestead. As a serious deep threat with the ability to go up and snatch touchdowns out of the sky, he figures to be one of the most exciting receivers to come out of the 2014 group.
