WWE: My (Good) View of Wrestlemania 25

Brendan O'NeillApr 9, 2009

Well, its been a while since my last article, it's not that I've been working hard, just its hard to decide on what to write about.

I'd like to write about the good points of Wrestlemania 25, which seems to going against the grain, considering all the negativity being aimed towards it, by the "leader-less" members of the wrestling community on B/R.

In my opinion, Wrestlemania 25 was a very good Pay Per View and well worth the money spent to see it. Granted it was not perfect, but what is? I'll give a brief on what wasn't good on the show.

Santina, no matter funny Santino is, I do not want to see him in drag, it's just not right. Mickey Rourke. All that focus on him, for one punch, the hype was undeserved. The main problem was the order of the card. 'Taker-HBK should have ended the show.

Now, on to what I liked about it. Too start off, CM Punk winning the Money in the Bank match was totally unexpected, and probably had every "Smart Fan" out there tearing up there prediction sheets. Many of whom had narrowed the winner down to either Christian, MVP, or Shelton.

The match itself was very good, with Shelton again providing the most memorable spot with his swan-ton leap off that freakishly tall ladder.

The Legends versus "The New Legend Killer" match was close to being a negative, but was saved by the performance of Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. He was very impressive for someone who is almost eligible for a free Senior Bus pass.

The next match was the Hardy-Hardy feud. Both men were good in this match with some good moves thrown in aswell, the twist of fate to the chair was a good finish. Matt Hardy has certainly benefited from this feud with his brother. He is surely in line for at least a shot at either the WHC Title or WWE Title.

I was surprised by how good the Cena-Big Show-Edge match was. Big Show looked good and dominating as he should do. Edge's spear to Cena of the top rope was good (note to Vickie—that is how a spear should be taken).

HHH-Orton was hyped up so much that it was obvious it wasn't going to live up to expectations. It was still however a good match, maybe not the best match they've had together, but still good.

Onto the Match of the Night, or should I say Match of the Year. HBK -'Taker was a five star match. People may say that the result was inevitable, but a least we were given the impression that maybe this would be the year the streak ended.

HBK kicked out of a chokeslam, the last ride and most unexpectedly of all, a tombstone. 'Taker tried to be the one who ended the streak by almost killing himself with his attempted dive out of the ring.

Well I may stop this Wrestlemania 25 love fest before the word ''mark" gets thrown at me, but I say, its better to be a "mark" and enjoy the show, than to be a "Smart Fan" and be upset at every little detail.

Well, as always comments are welcome, even from "Smart Fans."
