The Fight Card Announcement of UFC 100

tyler griggsApr 8, 2009

There is nothing but amazement for the fight card of UFC 100 on July 11th. First off there are two titles on the line: 1. Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir and 2. George St. Pierre vs Thiago Alves.

Also a main card fight would also be Team USA coach of this seasons Ultimate Fighter Dan Henderson vs Team UK coach Micheal Bisping. Another great fight that has come to a rumor which I believe I just saw confirmed on Spike Stephan Bonnar vs Mark Coleman and Jon Fitch vs Paulo Thiago, but the last one I'm not sure of.

First Brock Lesnar vs Frank Mir. Mir and Lesnar were supposed to fight at UFC 98, but Mir's leg blewout during training (which was an accident waiting to happen) Mir had a motorcycle accident a couple of years ago breaking his leg and I guess it never fully healed.

This is perfect timing for this fight.

This is one of the biggest rematches for one of the biggest nights in MMA History. Lesnar beat Randy Couture for the Heavyweight championship. Mir on the other hand beat Antonio Nogueira for the Interim Heavyweight title. Now they will fight to unify the two titles.

Second up there is George St. Pierre vs Thiago Alves. Now George St Pierre is coming off of a lot of pressure since the BJ Penn fight. The situation is that since GSP has been champion he has been cheatin' by having his corner rub some kind of oil based material onto Pierre's back to keep his opponents from keeping a good secure grip on Pierre.

Alves is doing very well with a 22-4 record and a seven-fight win streak. In my eyes he is well deserving of a title shot.

Last but certainly Team USA coach from this season's Ultimate Fighter Dan Henderson vs Team UK coach Micheal Bisping. Team USA is having some issues in this season so far with one guy passing out, one couldn't make weight and the other had a disease that could easily spread to other fighters, so all of them went home.

This is not Henderson's fault. Team USA will get some good training from the former PRIDE Champion in numerous divisions. I think this will play well into his gameplan, with the different weight classes, and specializing the workouts and training to them.

But don't count out the winner of a previous season Ultimate Fighter (three, I believe) Micheal Bisping.

Jon Fitch vs Paulo Thiago, Is a rumor I believe right now because it has not been confirmed by the UFC yet on the Fight Card to my knowledge. Fitch I believe is the Fighter coming off of a torn ACL in his last fight which was for the title with Anderson Silva. So good luck to Fitch in his return.

Mark Coleman vs Stephan Bonnar is another fight that I'm looking forward to. Coleman is a very talented fighter, hell let's just say it HALL OF FAME. He didn't do so well at his last fight with Mauricio Rua due to a TKO.

But I'm sure, just like most fighters, picked themselves up, dusted themselves off, and learned from their mistakes. Stephan Bonnar is a great fighter also. He lost his last fight to Jon Jones at UFC St. Pierre vs Penn 2. But this is going to be a great fight and I'm looking very forward to it as I said.

Well I would like to place my Predictions in These fights.

1. Lesnar vs Mir- I say Mir within the first two rounds, more likely submission then anything because, look at Lesnar he's a big dude.

2. Pierre vs Alves- I say Pierre but this fight is going to be close, but I say Pierre Round 3 by submission or TKO

3. Henderson vs Bisping- I say Henderson in Round Two by TKO or KO. Henderson is a very experienced and talented fighter, but Bisping isn't bad either, I just give this one to Henderson.

4. Coleman vs Bonnar- I will say this one will go to decision and I'm not sure who will win, Because Coleman didn't do that well his last fight, and it has been a while since I've seen Bonnar fight so I'm not sure what they will bring to the table.

I wish my luck to all these fighters. The thing I love about predictions is they could go either way. Anything can happen in this sport, one lucky punch or right timed takedown or submission could change or end the fight completely.

But anyways good luck to the champs in defending the titles, good luck to the challengers to their quest to take the titles and good luck to everyone else. Thanks and leave a comment!
