Wrestlemania XXV Review & Criticisms

WRESTLEMANIA XXV:

I will rate the matches according to the level of the performance, the excitement, and the heat.

1) MITB Ladder Match

This has become a classic Wrestlemania match. This year, it was no exception, as all eight superstars gave an excellent performance—Kingston´s agility, Henry's strength, Benjamin's "madness" and Christian's heat being the most remarkable.

I don't like the way Punk won the match; it was illogical that Kane lost to some kicks by the kid.

Another perception was that Christian or Benjamin should have won the match; Vince is being really unfair to Christian right now.

Nice opening match: 10/10

2) Kid Rock's Performance

This part totally lost the crowd at Relliant Stadium, the 10 minutes could have easily been used to fit in the tag match. A total waster of time and money, as people are there to see wrestling and get entertained—not to be bored.

2.1) Miss Wrestlemania 25 Diva Battle Royal

If you were bored before by Rock's performance, this easily made you sleep on your seat. It's too bad this WWE-miss used the "returning" divas without having a proper introduction. At the end, the only funny moment was Santina's dance. It's the only part of the match that was good

3) Roddy Piper, Jimmy Snuka, Ricky Steamboat w/Ric Flair vs. Chris Jericho

Nice to see the legends back in the ring, as Piper and Snuka delivered nice moments. Steamboat was the one that really delivered one of the best performances. After 15 years out of the ring, the Hall of Famer had a very nice, well-executed match. Rourke and Flair's participation was really mediocre, as the crowd didn´t react as hoped.

4) Extreme Rules Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy

This match, from my point of view, really saved the show up to this point; it got the fans back up from their seas. Matt and Jeff delivered one of the most brutal matches in the history of Wrestlemania; as always, the level of performance was high, ending it with one of the sickest Twist of Fates I have ever seen.

5) IC Title: JBL vs. Ray Mysterio

There wasn´t too much build for this match being in the middle of the card, I suppose it was just matter of timing.

There isn’t much to rate since the match only lasted 21 seconds, kind of similar to last year’s ECW title match, in the end, JBL quits. Wrestlemania should not be to run angles, but to end them.

6) Mr. WrestleMania vs. The Streak: Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker

This match was worth the entire show, both HBK and Taker really delivered a classic match. Some people are talking about how this match is "THE BEST" in Wrestlemania history. It really combined all things: the entrances, the short but solid storyline, the heat both legends deliver, etc.

This match should have been the MAIN EVENT, 'cause after this, the others were not even close to delivering the same level of emotion or heat.

20/10 (Sorry, but it´s true)

7) World Champion Edge vs. John Cena vs. Big Show

From my point of view, a really nice and surprising match, as it really surpassed the buildup and the expectation of the people. It was clear all three superstars worked a nice match, the only negative point being Cena winning the title.

8) WWE Champion Triple H vs. Randy Orton

This one really killed the show, this match had one of the biggest buildup's in history, and yet all it delivered was a "That's it?" sensation.

Both H and Orton delivered a good match with good spots, but the people never really got into it. This one really didn't match the expectations. The Orton-H feud is really old; a terrible ending for the event.

WWE really killed the event, as taking out of the card the tag team match was one of the worst ideas ever.

Rock´s performance only bored the audience.

The main events and the card were poorly organized. It should have been like this:

1) Jericho vs. the Legends

2) Rock´s performance and the Divas Battle Royal at the same time

3) IC Title match

4) Unification tag match

5) Brother vs. Brother

6) MITB

7) WHC Match

8) WWE Title match

9) Taker vs. HBK

Overall event rating 7/10

The highlights: MITB, HBK-Taker, WHC match and brother vs. brother match.
