Manchester United—The Diagnosis: Cough, CHOKE, Cough

Oh my, Man Utd 2-2 FC Porto.

Surprised?

Well, not really.

Manchester underestimated FC Porto and FC Porto underrated Manchester United. Neither of the teams actually deserved to win.

United made far too many costly mistakes and their clear lack of concentration led to FC Porto's early first goal.

The second goal was also a complete screw up by Man Utd's defense. Where the hell was the defender!?

I guess United's defenders are still kicking themselves for their dumb mistakes, oh if only Roy Keane had been there to join the party.

Ronaldo yet again did what he does best, which is nothing, so that we can all remain clear on this subject.

Cough, cough, choke.

United's midfield had nothing on FC Porto, nor did their attack, nor their defence. They screwed up.

Cough, cough, big time choke.

Man Utd actually deserved to get a hard beating at Old Trafford.

FC Porto did deserve a draw.

They capitalised on United's mistakes, which led to two goals.

Although they played better than Fergie's side, I must add that they only played better because the real Man Utd did not show up.

The thing is, United only focused on Villa and forgot about Porto, and Porto only focused on United.

Now, in two weeks time Porto (who are supposedly at European Champions level) will host the powerful might of Manchester United, will they succeed?

Nobody knows. Manchest United were lucky to beat Villa and in the Champions League it will be harder.

If they bring up their "A-game", Porto might as well forget about it.

Nevertheless, Manchester will have to improve a lot of glitches.

Their efficiency was really bad. They had a lot of chances, but they just could not find the net.

Bruno Alves then gave Rooney a late Christmas present and a great chance for a goal.

The defense-midfield transition did not work that well, since Porto played a lot on the counter and therefore managed to attack with practically every player.

The first goal clearly shows us that.

Ronaldo misses a pass, as usual he does not run for the ball (I think that Utd's midfield should always have a libero player, that only runs after Ronaldo's lost balls), then Porto miss a pass and then Utd's defense felt sorry for Porto and gave them the ball again in the penalty area. After receiving the ball, Porto's striker Rodrigues nets a goal.

Talk about fair play!

The midfield doesn't look that stable. A lot of misses in transition and the back of the midfield cracked down to the pressure of the mighty Raul Meireles.

Ronaldo choked with the pressure of world class backs Sapunaru and Sissoko, and it was another utterly disastrous campaign of the Portuguese winger.

United were completely dominated.

Now, Manchester will have to maintain their leadership in the EPL and on top of that, they will have to fight really hard for their ticket to Rome.

Oh well, Sir Alex definitely choked on his gum.
