Federico Macheda: Keep Your Feet on the Ground, Son

Yes, he's the man of the moment. He won the game for Manchester United. You have probably guessed by now, I'm talking about United's 17-year-old prodigy, Federico Macheda.

Macheda's stoppage time winner against Aston Villa on Sunday has changed the life of a relatively unknown Italian striker who came up the ranks at Lazio.

What a fantastic finish, absolute perfection.

Yeah, It was a great goal. Yeah, he seems a decent prospect for the future but wait a minute...doesn't the media sensationalize?

"Macheda may have won United the Premier League" claimed a rather boastful commentator on television.

"The name is Macheda, Federico Macheda" reveals a sly headline on one of the local tabloids.

Federico Macheda's life turned upside down in a matter of seconds.

Overnight, he was hailed as a United "legend," as the successor to Ole Gunnar Solsjaker, Eric Cantona, and Dennis Law, and here I thought, "Well, well, well, hold it right there!"

Federico Macheda's first ever appearance for United's first team was nothing short of a dream come true. Having said that, I feel it is necessary for Macheda to keep his head on his shoulders and to take it, a step at a time.

The last thing the world of football (except those bloody scousers) wants to see is another bad apple, another case of "he could've been so much more, only if..."

P.S.: I love those bloody scousers for making something out of this title race, United running away with the title would've been boring.
