MLB: Day Two Predictions
Well, in 11 games yesterday I finished at 6-5 although one of those games I was more than happy to put in the loss column after I picked the Yankees to beat Baltimore. A big thank you goes out to C.C. Sabathia and Mark Teixeira for showing why they were worth $161 million and $180 million respectively yesterday.
Sabathia was brilliant, or not so much, going 4 1/3 innings, giving up six runs and walking five as the Yankees dropped their season opener 10-5. Now that's pay well earned right there.
As far as Teixeira, he thought he'd one up Sabathia. The new Yankee first baseman finished his day 0-for-4 with five runners left on base.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Ok, now that I've gotten my laughing out of the way, let's get to Day 2 of the Major League Baseball season.
Kansas City Royals (Gil Meche)
Chicago White Sox (Mark Buehrle)
2:05pm EST - US Cellular Field - Chicago, IL.
Pre-game note: The season opener was postponed due to bad weather, so both teams will play their opener this afternoon.
Todd's pick: With the White Sox at home and Buerhle on the mound, I'll take the Sox to win their opener.
Milwaukee Brewers (Jeff Suppan)
San Francisco Giants (Tim Lincecum)
4:05pm EST - SBC Park - San Francisco, CA
Pre-game note: Edgar Renteria will make his Giants' debut at shortstop this afternoon.
Todd's pick: Tim Lincecum is the easy pick to dominate Milwaukee, but can the Giants offense give him the run support? I'll still take the Giants in a season opening win.
Tampa Bay Rays (James Shields)
Boston Red Sox (Josh Beckett)
4:05pm EST - Fenway Park - Boston, MA
Pre-game note: Game postponed due to weather yesterday, giving both teams one more day to prepare for their Opening Day.
Todd's pick: This should be a good match up with good pitching from Boston and good young talent from Tampa Bay. Boston at home is always tough, so I'll take the Red Sox to win their home opener.
Atlanta Braves 1-0 (Jair Jurrjens)
Philadelphia Phillies 0-1 (Jamie Moyer)
7:05pm EST - Citizens Bank Ballpark - Philadelphia, PA
Pre-game note: The Braves came out firing offensively and got a great outing from new addition, and former Dodger, Derek Lowe. Can they continue that against Moyer?
Todd's pick: I was really impressed with Atlanta's offense and I'll stick with them to pick up another win tonight against Moyer.
Detroit Tigers 0-1 (Edwin Jackson)
Toronto Blue Jays 1-0 (David Purcey)
7:07pm EST - Rogers Centre - Toronto, Canada
Pre-game note: The Tigers showed they have the offense, but Verlander giving up eight runs has to make the team nervous.
Todd's pick: I'll take the Tigers to re-bound and get a win
Washington Nationals 0-1 (Scott Olson)
Florida Marlins 1-0 (Josh Johnson)
7:10pm EST - Dolphin Stadium - Miami, FL
Pre-game note: Scott Olson returns to Miami for his first start against his former team.
Todd's pick: I'm a big fan of Scott Olson, but unfortunately Josh Johnson is the better of the two pitchers. Marlins move to 2-0
Chicago Cubs 1-0 (Ryan Dempster)
Houston Astros 0-1 (Wandy Rodriguez)
8:05pm EST - Minute Maid Ballpark - Houston, TX
Pre-game note: The Astros' offense needs to give their pitchers more run support than they gave Roy Oswalt last night. Pudge Rodriguez, Lance Berkman, and Carlos Lee finished a combined 1-for-10.
Todd's pick: Ryan Dempster really impressed coming out of the bullpen to a starting role last season, look for him to continue that success tonight. Cubs win.
Seattle Mariners 1-0 (Erik Bedard)
Minnesota Twins 0-1 (Nick Blackburn)
8:10pm EST - Target Field - Minneapolis, MN
Pre-game note: Mariners' starter Erik Bedard will make his first regular season start since July 4th of last year against Detroit.
Todd's pick: This one really depends on how Bedard does, especially spending most of 2008 on the disabled list. I'll take the Mariners in a close one.
Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0 (Ian Snell)
St. Louis Cardinals 0-1 (Kyle Lohse)
8:15pm EST - Busch Stadium - St. Louis, MO
Pre-game note: Cardinals had the lead going into the ninth inning before a bases-clearing double by Jack Wilson. Look for the Cardinals to bounce back, especially with Kyle Lohse on the hill.
Colorado Rockies 0-1 (Ubaldo Jimenez)
Arizona Diamondbacks 1-0 (Dan Haren)
9:40pm EST - Chase Field - Phoenix, AZ
Pre-game note: I'm sure the Diamondbacks didn't count on Brandon Webb getting ripped for 6 earned runs in just four innings, but they're hoping their offense can pick up their pitchers like they did yesterday in a 9-8 win over Colorado.
Todd's pick: I like Dan Haren and Arizona is always tough at home.
Oakland A's 0-1 (Trevor Cahill)
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1-0 (Dustin Moseley)
10:05pm EST - Edison Field - Anaheim, CA
Pre-game note: Two young pitchers will make their first starts of the season as 21-year-old Trevor Cahill will make his Major League debut for the A's while 27-year-old Dustin Moseley will make the start for the Angels.
Todd's pick: Joe Saunders shut out Oakland last night, but I don't see that being the case today against Moseley. Although, I'm not sure how well Cahill will fare either against a very good Angels offense. I'm going to take the A's to pull away late.
Los Angeles Dodgers 1-0 (Randy Wolf)
San Diego Padres 0-1 (Chris Young)
10:05pm EST - Petco Park - San Diego, CA
Pre-game note: Former teammates will square off as Randy Wolf will face 6'10" Padres' right-hander Chris Young. The Padres' offense needs to start showing up, I know it's just one game, but this can't become a pattern
Todd's pick: I like Chris Young and I'll take the Padres offense over Randy Wolf.
Enjoy the games tonight!
