Dallas Mavs vs. Los Angeles Lakers: Possible Upset?

Chris FordApr 6, 2009

The Dallas Mavericks are looking to edge out Phoenix for the eighth seed and look to face the Los Angeles Lakers for the first round of the playoffs.

Kobe Bryant has been in sort of a slump lately. He isn't shooting well and it doesn't seem promising that its going to change after last game going 5-15 against the Clippers. He may pull out for the playoffs. There is just a possibility that he may not.

The team is good enough to cover for him evidently because the majority of his bad games are wins but if he is in his slump in the series they are going to have to step up and lead in order to avoid upset.

They faced off this year and in both meetings kept the game close and in one game looked as if they were going to win and they didn't have swing-man Josh Howard. Josh Howard is a good defender and is looking to probably guarding Laker Shooting Guard Kobe Bryant who has been in a slump lately.

There is a small possibility of a No. 8 to No. 1 seed upset. Unlikely but possible. The Western Conference is full of good teams so no win is going to come easy but the Mavericks are going to have to play their best basketball to have a shot.

The Mavericks are looking to end back to back seasons of losing first round playoff series. Josh Howard is looking to be in 100% shape now. The team is really looking forward to attempting to pull of this amazing upset.
