Will C.C. Sabathia Deliver on Opening Day?
It's finally here. The start of another Yankees season is here, and to start it all off, new pitcher C.C. Sabathia will be pitching against fellow division foes, the Baltimore Orioles.
Sabathia, who was the big free agent this year, was picked up by the Yankees, which immediately got Yankees fans excited but got fans of other teams mad about the Yankees overspending, once again.
Sabathia has been chosen by Yankees manager Joe Girardi to start both the season opener and the home opener at the new billion-dollar Yankee Stadium.
But now that Opening Day is here, I am trying to answer an important question that could change the Yankees season.
Will C.C. Sabathia deliver on Opening Day?
To end last year, Sabathia practically pitched his team into the playoffs with the Milwaukee Brewers by pitching phenomenally on three days rest.
Sabathia's amazing pitching couldn't get his Brewers past the Phillies in the NLDS, though, so he was sent home after playing in what would be his final game as a Brewer.
Then, after Sabathia was brought in by the Yankees this offseason, he pitched very well in Spring Training.
So, I ask a better question. Why wouldn't C.C. Sabathia deliver on Opening Day?
Many people claim that Sabathia will be another bust but have no rhyme or reason to their hate.
With all of the offense that Sabathia has around him, there is no way he doesn't get the run support that he needs to get the win.
Sabathia is 5-0 in his career against the O's with one complete game and one shutout.
This leads me to believe that today at 4:05 p.m. EST, C.C. Sabathia will deal his first win as a Yankee. And there will be many more to come.
