Peter Gammons is one of my gods, along with Dick Enberg and Chuck Swirsky. Everything they say is gold to me. Gammons has all the inside information in baseball because he is so well connected. Everybody loves Peter.

 

In his most recent piece on ESPN.com, he writes about which MLB prospects impressed him this spring. It is a great piece, in which he gives scouts’ views and mixes it in with his own expert opinion.

The guy that impressed him the most, Mike Stanton, a teenager in the Marlins’ system, surprised me a little bit because I have never heard of the guy. Now that Ole Pete has mentioned him to me, I will follow young Stanton’s progression this season.

Of the players I am most excited to see sometime this upcoming season in Gordon Beckham. Like Gammons, I think he has a Major League swagger to him. He was born to play baseball like Mantle or DiMaggio. He just has that look to him. Plus, he has a hilarious Youtube video, where he shows you what he does to warm up for games.
