Clemson Football Recruiting: Meet All 2013 Commits

Andrew KulhaJun 2, 2018

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers have put together an impressive 2013 recruiting class.

It wasn't what it once was back when No. 1 overall recruit Robert Nkemdiche was committed, but Clemson persevered through some rough times and came out looking just fine on the recruiting trail.

The Tigers' 2013 recruiting class will feature more than a few players who will be extremely productive for Clemson in the near future, and overall, this class has the chance to be very good.

Let's meet Clemson's 2013 recruits:

Weight: 175 lbs.

Position: CB

Stars: 2-star

High School: Grayson High School, Loganville, GA

Commit Date: Feb. 6 at 11:15 a.m. ET

MacKensie Alexander

5 of 23

Height: 5'10''

Weight: 180 lbs.

Position: CB

Stars: 5-star

High School: Immokalee High School (Fla.)

Senior Stats: 51 TCK, 4 INT, 2 FF, 2 FR, 2 INTTD

Other Finalists: Mississippi State, Auburn, Rutgers

Commit Date: Feb. 6 at 11:15 a.m. ET

Analysis:

MacKensie Alexander is a star cornerback recruit. He has good size and he runs a 4.40 40 according to 247Sports. He projects to be a shutdown corner. Alexander is a huge recruiting win for Clemson.

Shaq Lawson

6 of 23
Height: 6'4''

Weight: 265 lbs.

Position: SDE

Stars: 4-star

School: D. W. Daniel High School (S.C), Hargrave Military Academy

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: N/A

Commit Date: 3/6/11, Signed: 2/1/12, Enrolled: 1/14/13

Analysis:

Shaq Lawson may not have the hype that Robert Nkemdiche did when he was a Clemson defensive end commitment, but he can still be a star player for the Tigers. Lawson has terrific size at 6'4'', 265 pounds and he should be able to compete to get into the rotation at defensive end right away.

Ebenezer Ogundeko

7 of 23
Height: 6'4''

Weight: 238 lbs.

Position: SDE

Stars: 4-star

High School: Thomas Jefferson High School (N.Y.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Florida, Syracuse, Arizona State

Commit Date: 1/4/13, Enrolled: 1/7/13

Analysis:

Ogundeko is another very talented defensive end recruit who should be able to work his way onto the field as a freshman, especially in obvious passing situations. He has terrific size coming out of high school at 6'4'', 238 pounds, but where he'll set himself apart is with his speed. He runs a 4.74 40, according to 247Sports. Landing his commitment was huge for Clemson.

Jordan Leggett

8 of 23
Height: 6'5''

Weight: 205 lbs.

Position: TE

Stars: 3-star

High School: Navarre High School (Fla.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: N/A

Commit Date: 3/3/12, Enrolled: 1/7/13

Analysis:

Jordan Leggett has very good potential as a tight end, and the fact that he enrolled early should help him out immensely. The issue is, Clemson won't necessarily need him right away. The Tigers are set at the position with Sam Cooper and Stanton Seckinger most likely getting the reps at tight end. Taking a redshirt season would be great for Leggett.

Jadar Johnson

9 of 23
Height: 6'1''

Weight: 188 lbs.

Position: S

Stars: 3-star

High School: Orangeburg Wilkinson High School (S.C.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: N.C. State

Commit Date: 3/7/12, Enrolled: 1/7/13

Analysis:

The Tigers have a huge need for depth at safety with Xavier Brewer, Rashard Hall and Jonathan Meeks all moving on from the program. That makes Johnson a very valuable recruit. The fact that he enrolled early should help him work his way into the competition at safety, and he'll be a very valuable depth player right away.

Dorian O'Daniel

10 of 23
Height: 6'1''

Weight: 205 lbs.

Position: OLB

Stars: 4-star

High School: Our Lady of Good Counsel High School (Md.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: South Carolina, Ohio State

Commit Date: 4/14/12

Analysis:

Dorian O'Daniel has the potential to be very good for Clemson. He has good size and runs a 4.55 40 according to 247Sports, so he'll be very effective on the edges and as a pass rusher. Expect O'Daniel to be a main sub behind Tony Steward in 2013, and he'll also be a big special-teams player.

Tyshon Dye

11 of 23
Height: 6'0''

Weight: 208 lbs.

Position: RB

Stars: 4-star

High School: Elbert County Comprehensive H.S. (Ga.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Auburn, Tennessee

Commit Date: 7/20/12

Analysis:

Tyshon Dye could be the future running back of Clemson's program. He has great size at 6'0'', 208 pounds and he runs a 4.44 40 according to 247Sports.

He's also ranked as the No. 13 running back in the 2013 class (247Sports Composite). Dye will be an important backup behind Roderick McDowell and D.J. Howard, and he should be able to challenge Zac Brooks for the No. 3 spot as a freshman.

Wayne Gallman

12 of 23
Height: 6'1''

Weight: 195 lbs.

Position: RB/ATH

Stars: 4-star

High School: Grayson High School (Ga.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Wisconsin

Commit Date: 4/11/12

Analysis:

Wayne Gallman is another very talented running-back recruit who can be very productive in time. With the depth chart in front of him being rather crowded, though, Gallman may want to consider taking a redshirt year. In time, he can be a a great No. 2 back to Dye.

Ben Boulware

13 of 23
Height: 6'0''

Weight: 230 lbs.

Position: ILB

Stars: 4-star

High School: T. L. Hanna High School (S.C.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Texas A&M, Penn State

Commit Date: 3/28/12

Analysis:

Ben Boulware has star potential as an inside linebacker. He' has elite size coming out of high school at 6'0'', 230 pounds and he runs a 4.70 40 according to 247Sports.
He'll be an immediate impact player on special teams, and an important backup to Spencer Shuey at "mike." When Shuey moves on, Boulware should be next in line.

Cordrea Tankersley

14 of 23
Height: 6'2''

Weight: 185 lbs.

Position: CB

Stars: 3-star

High School: Silver Bluff High School (S.C.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: N/A

Commit Date: 6/8/11

Analysis:

Tankersley is a big cornerback recruit at 6'2'', 185 pounds. He'll be able to jam receivers off the line, and I wouldn't be surprised if he worked his way onto the field as a nickel or dime player as a freshman. He's ranked as the No. 1 prep school cornerback according to the 247Sports Composite.

Mike Williams

15 of 23
Height: 6'4''

Weight: 210 lbs.

Position: WR

Stars: 4-star

High School: Lake Marion High School (S.C.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Notre Dame

Commit Date: 7/31/12

Analysis:

Mike Williams has tremendous size at 6'4'', 210 and he has the potential to be very good in Clemson's offense. He also runs a 4.53 40 (247Sports), so he projects to be a major deep threat in time.
Sammy Watkins, Charone Peake, Martavis Bryant, Adam Humpries and Germone Hooper will all be in front of Williams on the depth chart, though. He could work his way onto the field in red-zone situations, or he may want to redshirt.

Jayron Kearse

16 of 23
Height: 6'4''

Weight: 185 lbs.

Position: ATH/S

Stars: 4-star

High School: South Fort Myers High School (Fla.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Auburn, Miami

Commit Date: 8/2/12

Analysis:

Jayron Kearse is ranked as a 4-star athlete recruit, but he projects to be a good safety for Clemson. The Tigers desperately need depth at the position, and Kearse has the measurables to come in and make an impact right away in the defensive secondary. He's the No. 9 ranked athlete in the 2013 class according to the 247Sports Composite. Look for Kearse to compete for a starter's spot at safety as a freshman.

Scott Pagano

17 of 23
Height: 6'3''

Weight: 280 lbs.

Position: DT

Stars: 4-star

High School: Moanalua High School (Hawaii)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Florida, Alabama, LSU

Commit Date: 7/24/12

Analysis:

Scott Pagano is a big-time defensive tackle recruit. He has good size and runs a 5.31 40 according to 247Sports, which isn't bad for a 280-pound defensive lineman. The Tigers are extremely deep on the defensive line, though, so Pagano may want to consider taking a redshirt year. Eventually, though, he can work his way into the rotation and be a very productive defensive lineman.

Kyrin Priester

18 of 23
Height: 6'2''

Weight: 185 lbs.

Position: WR

Stars: 3-star

High School: Brookwood High School (Ga.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Ohio State, N.C. State

Commit Date: 1/20/13

Analysis:

Priester is another talented wideout recruit with good size and good speed. He runs a 4.50 40 (247Sports). Considering the depth at wideout, Priester may not see the field much as a freshman, but he'll be a valuable sub and special-teams player. His combination of size and speed give him a ton of potential.

Dane Rogers

19 of 23
Height: 6'3''

Weight: 230 lbs.

Position: WDE

Stars: 3-star

High School: Crest High School (N.C.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: North Carolina, N.C. State

Commit Date: 6/19/12

Analysis:

Dane Rogers has the potential to be a good run-stopping defensive end at the college level. The issue is that he only runs a 5.15 40 according to 247Sports, which isn't great for a defensive end. The Tigers are looking good at the position for now, so Rogers may want to take the year to redshirt and work on his intangibles.

Maverick Morris

20 of 23
Height: 6'4''

Weight: 280 lbs.

Position: OG

Stars: 3-star

High School: Coffee High School (Ga.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: N/A

Commit Date: 6/18/12

Analysis:

Clemson is looking very strong on the offensive line, so don't expect to see Maverick Morris on the field as a freshman. That said, he has very good size and a ton of potential as a guard, so he can find himself as a third backup behind Kalon Davis and Reid Webster. He could be another good redshirt option for Clemson.

T.J. Green

21 of 23
Height: 6'2''

Weight: 189 lbs.

Position: ATH

Stars: 3-star

High School: Sylacauga High School (Ala.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: UAB, Auburn

Commit Date: 1/27/13

Analysis:

T.J. Green is another athlete that will probably end up at safety for Clemson. He has good size at 6'2'', 189 and he runs a 4.45 40 according to 247Sports. His combination of size and speed will make him a valuable option in year one and he'll also be a big-time special-teams option.

Marcus Edmond

22 of 23
Height: 6'0''

Weight: 165 lbs.

Position: ATH/CB

Stars: 3-star

High School: Lower Richland High School (S.C.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: N.C. State

Commit Date: 1/27/13

Analysis:

Edmond is ranked as an athlete, but he'll most likely play corner for Clemson. He has good size and he should end up being a good rotational player for Clemson in time. Right now, he'll be a valuable backup, but he has the potential to be very good.

D.J. Greenlee

23 of 23
Height: 6'3''

Weight: 205 lbs.

Position: OLB

Stars: 3-star

High School: D.W. Daniel High School (S.C.)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: N/A

Commit Date: 2/1/12

Analysis:

D.J. Greenlee projects to be a good special-teams player as a freshman. He's big at 6'3'' and he has good size at 205 pounds. He'll have to work hard to crack the rotation at outside linebacker in the next season or two, but he does have good potential.
