Is Wrestlemania 25 Too Predictable?
For 25 years Wrestlemania has been the pinpoint event in the Wrestling world. It has earned the reputation of the biggest Wrestling show of the year.
With that bit of logic in mind the WWE often wants Wrestlemania to be far away from predictability. But with the "Best Wrestlemania yet," coming up in just a couple of days, is the match card too predictable?
My Wrestlemania Predictions
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But my making observations, and following trends you can see clear winners in some matches. Let me shed some light on my Wrestlemania 25 predictions.
25 Diva Battle Royal
This is one match that could be provide a few laughs. It's not a serious match with a big build, but rather one that could provide some entertainment. Comedic relief seems to be the key in this match.
Santino will likely be in the match. Considering how they have utilized him in the last little while, he seems like a clear cut winner. I don't see much seriousness in this match. Thus my prediction being Santino.
Predicted Winner: Santino Marella
Chris Jericho vs. WWE Legends
This match is something that hardly anyone is looking forward to. While some people see it as a glass that's half empty, I look at it the other way around. Chris Jericho is easily one of the top heels in the company now, so we can count on him to carry the match.
It'll be interesting to see how this match goes. Jericho needs the momentum, but its a known fact that he can easily gain it back. If the WWE did want to take this match somewhere then they would book Stone Cold for a special appearance here.
Maybe an interference screwing Jericho, thus granting a win to the Legends. I'm expecting a good spot to be filled here.
Predicted Winner: WWE Legends
Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Anyone who isn't looking forward to this match isn't a big fan of entertainment. The MITB is a yearly specticle that makes a good use of a stipulation. It always proves to be one of the most entertaining matches of the year, and always provides a ton if high spots.
This one could be the best yet. With the addition of Mark Henry there's a chance of something like a splash off the ladder, or such. There's also a lot of highflying power as well as technicality in the match which should make it an entertaining watch. As for the winner, its basically between Christian and MVP.
Christian would be a good surprise winner, but is still unlikely to win the breifcase. MVP looks to going forward to a main event push, making him the favourite to win in this match. If I had to book it, MVP would walk out the winner.
Predicted Winner: MVP
Carlito and Primo vs. Miz and Morrison Unified Tag Team Championship Match
This match doesn't seem to be anything extraordinary. The fact that it's happened so many times already ruins it. All four men are capable of making something good to watch though.
In the end I think it can go either way. Something that could happen is a turn by one of the Bella twins. As a booker I would give the win to Carlito and Primo, but this match can pretty much go either way.
Predicted Winners: Carlito and Primo
Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy Extreme Rules
What this match really needed is hype. It could have been much bigger than it currently is. Jeff Hardy is a former World Champion now, thus making him a clear favourite in the match. The outcome can differ depending on what storyline attempt they take.
Either way I see Jeff taking the match. Having Matt win would kill the momentum that Jeff has, building momentum for Matt. But if the WWE is prioritizing, I feel that Jeff will walk out at Wrestlemania as the winner.
Predicted Winner: Jeff Hardy
JBL vs. Rey Mysterio
JBL has promised something big for Wrestlemania. This is something that I cannot predict. I'm looking forward to the announcement.
Considering the fact that he seems to be at the end of his career I think we will see JBL walking out of Wrestlemania as Intercontinental Champion. Not a match that I am necessarily looking forward to.
Predicted Winner: JBL
Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels
A match that everyone seems to be looking forward to. Undertaker's streak is one of the top in all of Wrestling. Personally speaking though I don't think the match has been hyped enough for a possible loss to Undertaker.
Shawn Michales has the edge in the feud, and its evident that Undertaker will have the match. It could be a close one though, well anticipated. I don't see the streak being broken this year though.
Predicted Winner: The Undertaker
John Cena vs. Edge vs. Big Show
Cena's a big factor in the WWE's marketing plan. Edge is looking to take some time off due to nagging injuries, so that basically pushes him out of the equation. I don't think Big Show is ready just yet to be a World Champion again.
Cena's lightened up this feud and it's easy to see him winning the match. Maybe even a draft to Smackdown. Either way I see John Cena walking out as champion.
Predicted Winner: John Cena
Triple H vs. Randy Orton
This match can go either way. I believe it is the main event of the night. It's set up perfectly for Triple H to win, but if the WWE is looking into the years ahead then this should be a Randy Orton win.
I'm expecting a great match with a possibility of a McMahon turn. I think in the end the winner will be Randy Orton.
Predicted Winner: Randy Orton
Predictable?
From where I see it this years Wrestlemania is a bit predictable. I can be proved wrong though. This Sunday will determine the level of predictability in Wrestlemania 25.
Closing Thoughts
My predictions may be close. The level of anticipation isn't showing in this years Wrestlemania. That can probably be one of the reasons leading into a predictable Wrestlemania.
