UCLA Football Recruiting: Meet All 2013 Commits

Andrew KulhaFeb 4, 2013

There's no doubting the fact that head coach Jim Mora has the UCLA Bruins football program trending in a positive direction.

The best part about that statement for UCLA fans is that it's true on two levels—the football field and the recruiting trail.

UCLA football is on the rise, and much of that has to do with Mora's ability as a recruiter. He's competed for and landed one of the best recruits in the nation, and this 2013 class will be looked back on as a very solid group of football players.

Let's get to know UCLA's 2013 recruiting class:

Note: Information via 247Sports, ESPN or Scout.com unless otherwise noted. Star ranking according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Isaac Savaiinaea

1 of 26

Height: 6'3''

Weight: 230 lbs.

Position: ILB

Stars: 4-star

High School: Punahou High School (HI)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: UCLA

Commit Date: 2/6, 9:45 PT

Analysis:

Savaiinnaea is one of the best linebacker recruits in this class, so he is a huge recruiting win for UCLA. He has elite size for an inside linebacker heading into college and he runs a 4.66 40 according to 247Sports. He has star potential, and he'd challenge for playing time right away.

Asiantii Woulard

2 of 26

Height: 6'4''

Weight: 200 lbs.

Position: QB

Stars: 4-star

High School: Winter Park High School (FL)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Clemson, Kentucky, N.C. State, South Florida

Commit Date: Feb. 6 at 12:30 p.m. ET

Analysis:

Woulard is the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2013 class (247Sports Composite). He just recently took an official visit to UCLA. His commitment is another monumental win for Jim Mora and his staff.

Kylie Fitts

3 of 26

Height: 6'4''

Weight: 241 lbs.

Position: SDE

Stars: 4-star

High School: Redlands East Valley High School (CA)

Senior Stats:

Other Finalists: USC, Notre Dame, Washington

Commit Date: 2/5/13

Analysis:

Much like Vanderdoes, Kylie Fitts is a former USC commitment. His final top three (247Sports) consists of USC, UCLA and Notre Dame right now, and he would be a huge commitment for the Bruins. He's ranked as the No. 8 strong-side defensive end in the 2013 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Tahaan Goodman

4 of 26

Height: 6'3''

Weight: 195 lbs.

Position: S

Stars: 4-star

High School: Rancho Cucamonga High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Oklahoma, LSU

Commit Date: 1/23/13

Analysis:

Tahaan Goodman is going to be a very good safety for UCLA. He has terrific size and combines that with great speed. He runs a 4.50 40-yard dash according to 247Sports. Goodman will compete to be in the rotation at either safety position. He's a very strong hitter and he'll be very physical at the college level. He may even be able to compete with Randall Goforth for starter's minutes at strong safety right away.

Priest Willis

5 of 26

Height: 6'2''

Weight: 200 lbs.

Position: CB

Stars: 4-star

High School: Marcos De Niza High School (AZ)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: LSU, Nebraska, Florida State, Virginia

Commit Date: 1/23/13

Analysis:

Priest Willis represents a huge recruiting win for UCLA. He was one of the more well-known cornerback names in the 2013 class, and he has the potential to be very good. He has terrific size at 6'2'', 200, and that size will allow him to be a shutdown corner. He could actually take reps at safety too if UCLA needed him to as well. Willis can start from day one with UCLA, especially since Sheldon Price and Aaron Hester have moved on.

Eldridge Massington

6 of 26

Height: 6'3''

Weight: 203 lbs.

Position: WR

Stars: 4-star

High School: West Mesquite High School (TX)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: USC, Alabama, Arizona State

Commit Date: 12/18/12

Analysis:

Eldridge Massington is a former USC commitment, so he represents yet another big-time recruiting win for UCLA. He has great size at 6'3'', 203 pounds, and he's the No. 23 ranked wideout in the 2013 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. UCLA is very deep at wideout, but expect for Massington to compete for time as a backup.

Tyler Foreman

7 of 26

Height: 6'2''

Weight: 195 lbs.

Position: S

Stars: 4-star

High School: Crespi Carmelite High School (CA)

Senior Stats: 39 TCK, 5 INT, 3 FF, 3 FR

Other Finalists: Wisconsin, Utah, Oklahoma

Commit Date: 1/20/13

Analysis:

In time, Tyler Foreman will be part of a great safety combination with Tahaan Goodman for UCLA. As a freshman though, he'll most likely find himself on special teams, with a chance to be in the rotation behind Tevin McDonald, Stan McKay and Anthony Jefferson.

Poasi Moala

8 of 26

Height: 6'5''

Weight: 272 lbs.

Position: OG

Stars: 4-star

High School: Rancho Verde High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Washington

Commit Date: 9/22/12

Analysis:

Poasi Moala could have the chance to start at right guard as a freshman for UCLA. With Jeff Baca moving on, Moala could end up being his replacement, and he'll easily be in the running. Moala is ranked as the No. 11 offensive guard recruit in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Alex Redmond

9 of 26

Height: 6'5''

Weight: 290 lb.

Position: OG

Stars: 4-star

High School: Los Alamitos High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Oregon

Commit Date: 12/9/12

Analysis:

Alex Redmond is another guard recruit that will come in and compete for Jeff Baca's vacant starters spot. Redmond has great size at 6'5'', 290 pounds and he's ranked as the No. 15 offensive guard in the 2013 class according to the 247Sports Composite.

John Johnson

10 of 26

Height: 5'10''

Weight: 175 lbs.

Position: 4-star

Stars: CB

High School: Central East (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Oklahoma, Washington

Commit Date: 1/19/13

Analysis:

John Johnson is the No. 16 ranked corner in the 2013 class (247Sports Composite) and he has the chance to be a major contributor for UCLA right away. At the very least, he'll be a big-time special teams player, but he should also get a chance to be a part of the rotation at cornerback behind Priest Willis.

Scott Quessenberry

11 of 26

Height: 6'4''

Weight: 265 lbs.

Position: C

Stars: 3-star

High School: La Costa Canyon High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Utah, Oregon

Commit Date: 10/5/12

Analysis:

Scott Quessenberry is going to be a very valuable backup for UCLA in year one. Incoming redshirt sophomore Jake Brendel is coming off an injury in the Holiday Bowl, so Quessenberry's role will be very important. His role may go from backup to starter if Brendel isn't ready to go in time. Either way, Quessenberry is a vital recruit for UCLA.

Thomas Duarte

12 of 26

Height: 6'4''

Weight: 225 lbs.

Position: TE

Stars: 4-star

High School: Mater Dei High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: USC, Oregon

Commit Date: 1/4/13

Analysis:

Like many of the recruits from this class, Thomas Duarte is going to play a major role as a backup in year one. UCLA is losing Joseph Fauria, who was extremely talented, and his replacement will most likely be incoming redshirt senior Darius Bell. Look for Duarte to be an important sub behind Bell, and he'll also be a special teams contributor.

Deon Hollins

13 of 26

Height: 6'1.5''

Weight: 225 lbs.

Position: OLB

Stars: 4-star

High School: Thurgood Marshall High School (TX)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Notre Dame, Utah

Commit Date: 3/20/12

Analysis:

Holding on to Deon Hollins is big for UCLA. Notre Dame looked like a threat to flip him, but Hollins has remained committed to the Bruins. He has great size and he's the No. 15 outside linebacker recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Hollins should compete for the starting gig at outside linebacker as a sophomore.

John Lopez

14 of 26

Height: 6'6''

Weight: 320 lbs.

Position: OT

Stars: 3-star

High School: Lutheran High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: USC, Utah

Commit Date: 8/1/12

Analysis:

John Lopez is a very big offensive tackle recruit with a ton of potential. At 6'6'', 320 pounds, he could end up being a surprise star from this class. The Bruins are looking good on the depth chart for the near future at tackle, so Lopez could be a great redshirt candidate.

Christian Morris

15 of 26

Height: 6'6''

Weight: 285 lbs.

Position: OT

Stars: 4-star

High School: East High School (TN)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Tennessee, Oklahoma

Commit Date: 7/12/12

Analysis:

Christian Morris has immense potential as an offensive tackle recruit. He has tremendous size at 6'6'', 285 pounds and he'll be talented enough to be a main backup at the position in 2013. In time, he could be a great offensive tackle for UCLA.

Jalen Ortiz

16 of 26

Height: 5'10''

Weight: 175 lbs.

Position: CB

Stars: 3-star

High School: Centennial High School (AZ)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Arizona State

Commit Date: 9/23/12

Analysis:

Depth in the secondary is going to be very important for the Bruins in 2013, so Ortiz is an important commitment. He'll most likely see the field as a special teams player early on in his career, and could work himself into a nickel or dime package role as time goes on.

Kenny Lacy

17 of 26

Height: 6'5''

Weight: 270 lbs.

Position: OT

Stars: 4-star

High School: Mountain Pointe High School (AZ)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Arkansas, Arizona State, Ohio State, Michigan

Commit Date: 9/10/12

Analysis:

Kenny Lacy is a huge commitment for UCLA to keep. He has good size and a lot of potential. He took a handful of official visits and looked to be a possible flip candidate, but it looks like the Bruins will be able to move forward with Lacy as part of the 2013 class.

Kenneth Clark

18 of 26

Height: 6'2''

Weight: 280 lbs.

Position: DT

Stars: 4-star

High School: Wilmer Amina Carter High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: N/A

Commit Date: 7/3/12

Analysis:

Kenneth Clark is really an interesting recruit for the 3-4 defense. He's not yet quite big enough to start at nose tackle, and he doesn't fit as a 5-technique or defensive end. Clark's best option is to take a redshirt season and work on putting on some muscle mass in an effort to bulk up to play the nose.

Caleb Benenoch

19 of 26

Height: 6'5''

Weight: 321 lbs.

Position: OG

Stars: 4-star

High School: Seven Lakes High School (TX)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Baylor, Oklahoma, Texas

Commit Date: 12/10/12

Analysis:

Benenoch is yet another extremely talented offensive guard recruit for UCLA. He has elite size at 6'5'', 321 pounds and he's the No. 16 offensive guard recruit in the 2013 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. UCLA may want to use a redshirt on Benenoch to separate his eligibility a bit from Redmond and Moala.

Myles Jack

20 of 26

Height: 6'2''

Weight: 218 lbs.

Position: ILB

Stars: 4-star

High School: Bellevue High School (WA)

Senior Stats: 98 TCK, 32 TFL, 24 SCK,

Other Finalists: Washington, Arizona State, Florida State

Commit Date: 6/20/12

Analysis:

Myles Jack may not start as a freshman, but he'll be a very important depth player behind Eric Kendricks and Jordan Zumwalt in the 3-4. Look for Jack to compete to be in the rotation with redshirt senior Isaiah Bowens and redshirt freshman Aaron Porter. Speaking of redshirts, using one on Jack could be a good option in his first year.

Craig Lee

21 of 26

Height: 6'0''

Weight: 190 lbs.

Position: RB

Stars: 4-star

High School: Redlands Senior High School (CA)

Senior Stats: 1,787 YD, 20 TD

Other Finalists: Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon

Commit Date: 8/15/12

Analysis:

Craig Lee has the chance to work his way into the rotation at running back for UCLA. The Bruins need to replace Johnathan Franklin, and eventually Lee could be a big part of that equation. He'll be behind Damien Thigpen and Jordan James on the depth chart. His biggest competition for that role will be redshirt freshman Paul Perkins.

Mossi Johnson

22 of 26

Height: 6'1''

Weight: 170 lbs.

Position: WR

Stars: 3-star

High School: Crenshaw High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Utah

Commit Date: 10/3/12

Analysis:

Johnson will be an important depth player at wideout for the Bruins, and he could work his way into the rotation as a junior. He may want to take a redshirt season so that he can make the most out of the extra year of eligibility on the field.

Cameron Judge

23 of 26

Height: 6'2''

Weight: 200 lbs.

Position: OLB

Stars: 3-star

High School: Oaks Christian High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Arizona State, Oregon State

Commit Date: 6/11/12

Analysis:

Cameron Judge will look to make an impression as a special teams guy right away, but in time he has the potential to work his way into the rotation at outside linebacker. Once Anthony Barr and Keenan Graham move on, look for Judge to compete for a lot more playing time.

Jayon Brown

24 of 26

Height: 6'1''

Weight: 200 lbs.

Position: OLB

Stars: 3-star

High School: Long Beach Polytechnic High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: N/A

Commit Date: 9/26/12

Analysis:

Jayon Brown is in the same position as Judge. Right now there's not much playing time available outside of special teams, but in time he could find his way into the rotation. A redshirt year could be a good option for Brown.

Darren Andrews

25 of 26

Height: 5'10''

Weight: 165 lbs.

Position: WR

Stars: 3-star

High School: Bishop Amat High School (CA)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Washington State

Commit Date: 11/18/12

Analysis:

Darren Andrews will look to be another depth player for UCLA at wideout. Special teams would be a great way for him to gain an advantage, and he may also want to put on about 5-10 more pounds in the next year or so.

Sean Covington

26 of 26

Height: 6'2''

Weight: 195 lbs.

Position: P

Stars: 3-star

High School: Saint Petersburg High School (FL)

Senior Stats: N/A

Other Finalists: Auburn

Commit Date: 10/18/12

Analysis:

Jeff Locke has moved on, so for all intents and purposes the starting punting job is Covington's from here on out. The good news is he's ranked as the No. 5 overall punter according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Overall, he's a very important recruit for UCLA.
