Atlanta Falcons: NFL Draft Needs
In this years NFL draft, the Falcons have many options. Last year the Falcons made a move in the second round and picked up Oklahoma's star MLB Curtis Lofton, and it seems he is a star to lead them for many years.
In this years draft, wouldn't it make more sense if the falcons solidified the defensive line. Sure we have stars like Babineux and Trey Lewis. And ends like John Abraham and Kroy bierman—a late round steal back in 08'.
But those guys can't play the whole game and there will be good every down lineman in the draft. A guy like Evander ''Ziggy'' hood or with some luck a Peria Jerry can anchor a line for years to come.
Our linebacker problem is not as big as some people make it seem. Stephen Nicholas has a whole lot of potential and Mike Peterson will bring some veteran leadership to the core. Coy Wire is more of a pass coverage linebacker. So going DT, SS, LB, and CB is what I think they should do.
Another possibillity is if the Falcons tade down.
With the No. 24 pick the falcons could trade down through the Patriots. They would be more than happy to have two back to back picks and in the process the falcons could pick up one or two of their second round picks and maybe a third or fourth rounder thrown in there.
In all, the Falcons have many options with this draft and as they have said, they are rebuilding through the draft and as of now they just have seven picks and I don't think you can really rebuild with just seven picks
