Kampmann and Bader victorious at UFN 18

Mike SafApr 2, 2009

It was a night filled with decisions. Six out of the eleven fights on the card went to the judge’s scorecards. But no fight was more exciting than Martin Kampmann’s three round war with former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit.

Widely considered to be a top ten 170 lb. fighter, Condit was planning to showcase his talents against the former UFC middleweight contender. Martin on the other hand, had other plans.

During the 15 minute battle, both fighters went back and fourth exchanging submission attempts and technical striking. The bout was won however, by Kampmann’s amazing top control. Martin contained the lengthy Condit by utilizing effective ground n’ pound.

Kampmann was rewarded the victory via split decision.

The Ultimate Fighter 8 winner was also on display on April Fools night. The Arizona Combat Sports representative won a rather lackluster decision victory over MMA journeyman, Carmelo Marrero.

“Darth” used his superior Wrestling to maintain and hault Carmelo’s offense. Ryan did show some improvement in his Jiu Jitsu by going for an awesome armbar attempt early on in the opening frame. Once Bader gets more experience and training, I’m sure he’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the light heavyweight division.
