Super Bowl 2013: Breaking Down What Super Bowl Win Would Mean for Joe Flacco

Jeremy FuchsJun 2, 2018

Joe Flacco has finally taken his team to a Super Bowl appearance. But what would a Super Bowl 2013 win mean for his future? It would mean he's due for a big day and increased respect around the league.

Flacco was terrific during the regular season, throwing for 3,817 yards, 22 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions.

In the playoffs so far, he's been even better. He's thrown for 853 yards, eight touchdowns and zero interceptions.

His win against the New England Patriots on the road was his sixth playoff road win, which passed Eli Manning for the most by a quarterback in postseason history, according to ESPN

Flacco is set to become a free agent this offseason. He'll be the most sought-after quarterback on the market.

If the Ravens want to re-sign him, they'll have to pony up.

His performance in the playoffs has solidified him as one of the best quarterbacks in football. With so many teams needing elite, proven quarterbacks, there could be a bidding war for his services.

The Ravens could get out of a bidding war by signing him to a one-year tender, which would be worth $14.8 million, according to RotoWorld.

If they want to sign him long-term, a deal along the lines of the one Matt Schaub signed seems likely.

Schaub signed a four-year contract extension in September worth $62 million. However, Schaub arguably had a better year, throwing for 4,008 yards, 22 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

But Flacco is still playing. Schaub is sitting at home.

A Super Bowl win for Flacco would ensure a massive payday, one that would see him make around $16 million per year.

After years of being a scapegoat, a Super Bowl win would put Flacco in the class of elite quarterbacks—not only in money, but in stature as well.

Of course, he has to win the game first. Should he do that, Joe Flacco will reap the rewards, both on and off the field.
