Gilbert Arenas And Washington Wizards Snap the Cavaliers Win Streak, 109-101

AkDApr 3, 2009

Last night the Cleveland Cavs faced the Washington Wizards in an exciting game that ended in a 109-101 victory for the Wizards. These two are rivals and it's always fun to see two rivals go at it. Unfortunately, only one of the two teams are playoff bound, the other has a ticket to the draft lottery this summer.

It's amusing how the team with the most losses in the entire league (Wizards with 59), beat the team with the most wins in the league (Cavs with 61). The rivalry gave Washington some motivation though there season is over...was over for sometime now.

I'm just glad to see Gilbert playing again. Agent Zero didn't do too bad as he racked in eleven points and ten assists.

Caron Butler added in twenty five points along with Antawn Jamison's nineteen points. Washington's big three looked pretty good and snapped the Cavaliers thirteen game winning streak despite thirty-one points from LeBron James.

Nick Young was looking pretty darn good himself. Arenas didn't need to do much as Wizards were playing the way they were supposed to be playing all season...like they want to win. If they looked at every team they faced as the Cavs, their record would be much, much better in my opinion.

Haywood poured in twelve points as the Wizards really did some magic last night (No pun intended). They had a nine man team and they defeated the number one team in the league (record wise) who were supposed to be one of the deepest teams in the league.

Call me crazy, but I believe a healthy, more focused Wizards could give the Cavs a run for their money if they faced off in the playoffs. Granted they would probably be ousted in the best of seven series, but never say never..the Hawks nearly eliminated the Celtics last year.

Those teams are different of course, but the Wizards play with more passion like it's a playoff match win or go home against their Ohio rivals. Did you see the emotion there last night in the nation's capital? This team has eighteen freaking wins, why are they excited?!

Arenas and the rest of the Wizards gave fist pumps, and 1 facial expressions, and prompted the crowd to get behind them after every fast break, bucket, and timeout down the stretch. They're going to the lottery not the playoffs, but it didn't matter because they were in the midst of defeating their rival in one of the biggest upsets of the season.

If any team brings the best out of them, it's the Cavs. Though James and the Cavs are playoff bound and have the most wins in the league, they left the nation's capital feeling embarrassed despite any other expressions that may have implemented otherwise.

Many people don't get why Arenas is playing, me either.

I guess he wants to mold himself into the team once more and they can rebuild any lost chemistry. Cavaliers had it good with that thirteen game winning streak. I wonder how they feel that it wasn't just ended by their bitter rivals, but the worst team in the league (record wise) that's destined for a top five lottery draft pick.

What makes it more interesting is that the Wizards are leading the season series two games to one. Cavs only won the first game and have lost two straight to Washington ever since. Don't worry, the Cavs have one last shot at redemption when they face off in five days in Cleveland.

Cavs are 36-1 at home, only the Lakers have beaten them there. If Arenas and Wiz can defeat Cavaliers at home, that would be worse than the previous two losses. Cavs are going to be on guard and they'll be looking to return the favor to the 18-59 Wizards.
