Andrew Bynum Loves Playmates

Bare KnucksApr 3, 2009

If you have yet to see it, Andrew Bynum, the former starting center for the Lakers who went down with a torn MCL around six weeks ago, was hanging out at the Playboy Mansion last weekend.

Why is this is a big deal, or even newsworthy you ask?

Well, numerous pictures were taken of the center dancing and even carrying a playmate on his shoulders.

This is where I have trouble picking a side on how to feel about this situation.

On one hand, Bynum is around the same age as me, and needless to say I would sacrifice a small toe or maybe even a nipple (depending upon how long of a slump I’ve been in with the ladies) to get a foot in the door at the mansion.

Also, it’s not as if this is the first time an athlete has attended a party when he shouldn’t have, since it’s basic operating procedure now for any athlete to get in trouble after 4 am the day before a game. His own coach Phil Jackson even had his back when asked for a comment about the situation.

“I think there’s a lot being made out of that that is unnecessary,” Jackson said Tuesday. “This is a young guy. I don’t think Andrew is 22 yet, is he? He’s a 21-year-old guy. He’s been out of basketball five and a half, six weeks. He’s got to have some energy and vent and have some fun. Now I don’t know if putting a girl on your shoulders…”

Oh you don’t think it was a good idea Phil? No wonder they call you the Zen-Master. After that comment, I’m sold. You obviously know way more than any other human being alive.

Yet, in hindsight as a coach don’t you think your starting center should be able to throw up a 100-pound something playmate on his shoulders? If Bynum was going to get hurt doing that, you might as well just chalk that up there with “slipping in the shower” or “straining yourself during pre-game stretching.”

Now moving on to why Phil or Lakers fans should be hating on Bynum right now. First off, isn’t he supposed to be rehabbing? I understand you need to take a break and go out for a few ‘pops,’ but come on.

Wasn’t the entire Laker nation just bitching about how if Bynum would’ve been playing last year they would’ve been champs?
