A Blow Out, Shelling, Cannonade, and Fusillade All Smashed Into One Game

B MacApr 2, 2009

I thought I had seen it all, but time and time again life loves to throw things at you.

I was on a bench while my high school baseball team was no hit, I've been drilled by a 6'5", 240lb power pitcher and I've even sat through multiple blow outs.

Never in my life have I seen something this absurd.

A 50-run mercy ruling.

That's right, you heard me, a 50-run mercy ruling.

Well, it wasn't 50 runs, but with a score of 49-1 you have to round up from 48.

The Eastern Kentucky Colonels played against the Kentucky State Thorobreds yesterday. It was supposed to be a doubleheader between the two schools, but the first game was finished after five, and the second was cancelled.

Eastern Kentucky must of been eating their Wheaties or something because they opened up on Kentucky State. The score at the end of the first inning was 22-1 in favor of Eastern Kentucky.

And no, this is not a late April Fools joke either...this really happened.

The starting pitcher for KSU, Kendall Wilson, was lit up for 13 runs, four of them earned, in a third of an inning.

Relievers Jaamal Duncan and Robert Wilson combined for, are you ready for this, 33 hits, 36 Runs and 16 EARNED Runs in three and two-thirds innings pitched.

Highlighting the offensive attack for EKU was Jayson Langfels. Langfels went seven for eight, with 11 RBI and six runs scored; Including his eighth and ninth home runs.

The Thorobreds, as a team, had a combined nine errors.

Final score: EKU 49 KSU 1

This kind of game angers me a great deal. KSU is a Division II team and they should not be playing a Division I team.

This kind of thing is funny, because it is both sad and pathetic.
