Gambling Line: NFC (-1) vs. AFC, Over/Under: 85 (courtesy of ScoresAndOdds.com)
While the Pro Bowl has a reputation for being one of the least exciting All-Star games in professional sports, one way to ensure you are on the edge of your seat for it is to place a bet down on the action.
It may be considered completely degenerate by your friends, and your bookie might pity you before putting it in, but trust us, it will make slogging through this much more interesting.
We’re leaning towards the AFC in this one, as they more original starters at critical positions than the opposition and that could be the key difference.
What’s even more intriguing than betting the point spread is going for the total, as over 85 looks like a stone cold lock.
Being that this is the Pro Bowl and all, defense is a complete afterthought. With the event losing more and more luster over the years, it’s becoming even more of a joke and it seems that no one on that side of the ball is even trying anymore.
Expect an absolute barnburner that easily goes over the total and cashes tickets come Sunday.
Prediction: AFC 49 – NFC 42
As mentioned, we believe this is going to be a back-and-forth affair with little defensive resistance from either side.
There are so many great athletes on offense and it’s going to be much easier for them to score touchdowns during this glorified game of two-hand touch football. We foresee stars like A.J. Green, C.J. Spiller, Julio Jones and Doug Martin making plenty of big plays throughout the afternoon.
At the end of the day, it’s going to be close. We predict that whichever team wins the turnover battle will come away with the victory. Because the AFC has a better defense and special teams—on paper—they have a slight edge.
