I'M A BOUNCIN' FOOL FOR APRIL

April is without a doubt the biggest month of the year for sports fans.

If for no other reason it is because I am from the “Hoosier” State, which means I am a huge basketball fan.  One of the greatest spectacles of the year is not just the Indy 500 in May but the NCAA Final Four in April.  Does anyone remember that East Regional Final between Kentucky and Duke in 1992 that was bigger than the championship game itself.  If you saw it you never forgot it, why just the other day at the water cooler someone was talking about it and about 10 other people chimed in.  I still think that is one of the most exciting games ever played.  From the first tip off till the buzzer at the end of the game every single play was jump up and down yell your head off excitement.  2 seconds left in overtime Duke down 103-102, Christian Laettner jumps, throws and hits the bucket right at the buzzer for a Duke win of 104-103.  I still get hoarse thinking about it.  And there is basketball and more basketball in April….least we forget the NBA playoffs?  Our favorite stars doing battle for the big one…too much excitement to be had on the basketball court in April.

And I ask you is it not un-American to not love hot dogs, apple pie and Baseball and of course what month marks the start of Major League Baseball season?  Why April of course.   Living in Tampa Bay there is a lot of excitement here to see if the Rays can once again make it back to the World Series.

And speaking of bouncing white balls……….let us not forget the Masters in beautiful Augusta, Georgia…….some of the greatest sports figures to ever grace the cover of any magazine have played at the Masters.  Who cannot wait for the thrill of seeing who will wear that green jacket next?   And how many times will we get to see Tiger putting that jacket on?

Yo what about that NFL draft????  Have we not been waiting all this time to see if our favorite college players will go to our favorite NFL teams?  Have we not discussed it over lunch, placed bets and prayed that our particular team will get the ONE

Draft pick that will help take us to the Super Bowl????  The NFL draft in April that’s enough thunder for the biggest sports fan.  And where there is thunder there is LIGHTENING……woo hooo, living in Tampa Bay there’s the NHL’s very own

Tampa Bay Lightening and April marks the NHL playoffs.  So much excitement and fun during the Hockey playoffs all over North America.

April is filled with footballs, basketballs, golf balls and hockey fans having a ball all month long.

There may be other months that have great events………but there is only one month that is the Event and that is the Month of April.

Whether you are there watching or laying at home on the sofa watching, April promises to be the most exciting month for sports.  Make sure you have plenty of chips and beer right beside you so you don’t miss one exciting moment of what’s in store for sports fans.
