What A Pending Heel Turn for Shane McMahon Would Mean for Legacy, WWE

Seize The DayApr 2, 2009

Shane has been a bit more involved in the past few months with a fast-rising storyline against Randy Orton.

At once, he was able to match up the second generation superstar, until he was kicked in the head and temporarily out of the storyline. This past week he made a short lived return. Does Shane need a turn?

Fitting in a Turn

When I look at the Triple H/Randy Orton storyline it seems set up perfectly for a face to win (Triple H).

However this does not have to be the result of the match. An alternative could be a cheap win on the part of Orton, or maybe even a turn by someone who is close to Triple H. This is where I see Shane fitting in.

If you remember a couple of months back, Shane was slapped by Stephanie. Many people thought that this would lead to a storyline between the two, but instead Shane joined forces with Steph to feud against Randy Orton.

Some things aren't taken for granted. This could be the base of a possible Shane McMahon turn.

Joining the Legacy

I'm sure everyone is aware that Shane is indeed a third generation superstar. That's basically what Legacy relies on. The fact that he is son of Vince McMahon makes him more than credible to side with the stable.

If he was to make a turn, joining Legacy would definitely be one of the better options for him. It could start a potential Triple H vs. Shane storyline, which would still arouse with Legacy.

Joining Legacy also leaves an option to feud with Vince McMahon. The past feuds involving the McMahon's have been very successful. An inclusion from Stephanie would be definite. Shane joining Legacy creates a ton of storyline options. All of which seem to work.

Cashing in the Benefits

Every move in wrestling has a couple of benefits as well as a couple drawbacks. In this case if Shane does make a turn Triple H will likely lose the match. If played right it could be a huge swerve.

Many fans are expecting a big match here, and I can't really think of a better way to play it off. Having Shane screw Triple H also puts the championship on Randy Orton. Orton's been very consistent since his return, and this will ideally keep him happy.

It will also take Triple H out of the main event picture. Looking back at the last year or so Triple H has definitely been a big factor in the main event. But things have to be kept fresh.

Added to that, it builds on Legacy making them a more dominant force. And even when you think that's all, it creates a ton of new storyline ideas.

Closing Thoughts

When looking at what this move has to offer I'd actually like to see it put into place. If thought out and presented well it could be big.
