Way to Handle Junie, Cole!

Dorothy WillisApr 1, 2009

I do not like Junie Browning!

He was one of the most despicable young fighters on the Ultimate Fighter 8 show.

A very angry person with a hair trigger, Junie was the most dangerously close to being a mentally ill person capable of hurting someone else very seriously, with no sense of shame for doing it.

His unpredictable, mercurial temperament let him go from tears to frothing at the mouth in anger, in just seconds.

One never knew what would erupt from Junie next, but his house mates learned quickly to get out of his space when the rumblings of mood changes were eminent.

He picked fights, broke glasses, threw himself at the heavy weight fighters daring them to take him out and managed to break the few rules that exist on this camp for delinquent fighters and bad boy series.

Almost every week Dana White had another of what should have been strictly, "Sorry Bub, you blew it," speeches that Dana makes so soulful eyed and eloquently, which is difficult for a man to do sincerely when the F-words fly so freely out of his mouth.

Each time Dana would admit that he was doing the wrong thing by letting Junie's bad behavior slip by, but then he would rescue the young reprobate, leaving the other fighters at risk from flying glassware and broken bottles.

Oh, well, every man except Junie, for himself.

After all, the boss had Junie's back!

The last "save" was a stroke of manipulative genius on Dana's part as he convinced the rest of the fighters in the house that 'they' were in effect, "punishing Junie" by forcing him to "take the beating he richly deserved."

What was up with Dana?

Junie received his foretold beat down and yet had signed a contract with the UFC before any of the "winners" did and Dana had once again circumvented every rule and principle of the UFC to bring Junie into the the organization.

And he so often preaches about how his organization needs to have upstanding, respectable fighters to give the sport of MMA, as well as the UFC, a more creditable appearance to the public.

Right Mr. White!

"The kid is so easy to hate, ya gotta love him!" mooned Dana in explanation.

Not only did Junie get a contract, he finagled his way into the well thought of Couture gym.

Lucky kid.

But talented? One of the best from numero ocho? No, not at all the best.

So here comes Cole Miller who has a brown belt and is ready to show it off to Junie.

"If Junie had been in the group I was in," said Cole realistically, considering his many fellow fighters now with the UFC, "he would have been the worst, the first to go."

Of course, I would have to agree with him completely.

So Cole challenged Junie, they almost came to blows at the weigh in, with Dana protecting little hot head against taller Cole and Cole promised to school Junie and take him out in the second round.

Fortunately for Junie, Cole didn't have to wait that long.

Long legged and limber Cole did school Junie on their feet and on the ground, then submitted him quickly with a rear naked choke.

Cole didn't need the belt to show off his talent and superiority. It was very apparent.

How pleased I was for Miller and sorry at the same time that, typically, Junie had escaped a far worse punishment by tapping out!
