Are the Broncos Talking Jay Cutler For Jason Campbell With Washington?

Sayre BedingerApr 1, 2009

According to Mike Florio at ProFootballTalk.com, the Washington Redskins are reportedly putting their quarterback, Jason Campbell, on the trading block.  This new development is a rumor at this point, but the Redskins added more fuel to the fire later in the day.

Florio also reported that at 10:00 a.m. EST, Redskins Executive V.P. of Football Operations Vinny Cerrato, Head Coach Jim Zorn, and Owner Dan Snyder all met for a good talk today in Snyder's office.  The report says that the three men stayed in the meeting until the evening.

My money is that they are putting together a package for Denver Broncos' quarterback Jay Cutler.

Believe what you want about Jay Cutler.  Call him overrated, bring up his mediocre record as a starter, or even use this recent situation as a knock against Cutler if you want.  The kid is an absolute superstar at the quarterback position, and is getting better.

It truly is a shame that this situation has come to this, but it is what it is, and it's time for both parties to move on.  In moving on, the Broncos are sure to get a "king's ransom" for their Pro Bowl quarterback.

With the Redskins, any trade would have to involve their first-round pick (13th overall), Jason Campbell, third-round pick (80th overall), and next year's first-round pick.

We have seen the Redskins pull off such trades before, mortgaging their future for a legitimate shot at the present, and it looks like it may just happen yet again.

Also, the Redskins have been very active in trading with the Denver Broncos of late.  In fact, quarterback Jason Campbell was selected with Denver's 2005 first-round pick that was traded to Washington prior to the draft.

Could Denver fans see Jason Campbell in Bronco orange next year?  It seems like the Redskins are trying to pull off the blockbuster trade of the century.
