EPL: Top Four Football Clubs...or Top Four Whiners ??

...Mar 27, 2008

Now before anyone gets all upset about the article, I have nothing against any of the top 4 teams. In fact I'm a supporter of one of them myself.

In recent weeks it has become more and more apparent that players at top clubs recieve special treatment from the FA and to a certain extent,  Referees. Despite this true fact, the fans of these top 4 clubs seem to think that their clubs get unfair treatment and are being singled out.

People often complain about the fact that Birmingham's Taylor got off with a light sentence for his horror tackle on Eduardo. In my eyes, the punishment he recieved was justified since he isnt supposed to be punished for any outcome of the tackle but solely on how reckless it was. The moment the board considers the extent of Eduardo's injury while making the decision on Taylor's punishment, it all goes wrong. Fairness and consistency is  then thrown out the window.

We all here, remember Lampards sending off at Upton Park recently. We all also know his red card was over-turned upon an appeal. I personally thought the red card was harsh to say the least and it barely warranted a yellow card. But, once he was sent off to then over turn the decision smells of favouratism, bearing in mind Aliadiere's red card was harsh too and middlesborough too apealled just like Chelsea did and their apeal was not only turned down but an additional match ban was issued.

Another problem i see with the top clubs is the tendency to surround the referee after every decision. I must admit Chelsea and Arsenal are the worst culprits in this case. I frown whenever i see John Terry run 50 yards in an aggresive manner to confront the referee. The same could be said of Arsenal's Eboue, Gallas and Lehman. Liverpool and Man Utd have certain players too with this type of behavior. To mention a few, Rooney and Carragher springs to mind.

Mascherano's red card during the weekend was deserved to the fullest. He didnt have  to ask why Torres was booked(if that indeed was what he was doing as he claims). No other liverpool players did so, why should he. I'm sure if any desicion should be contested, its down to the captain to take it upon himself and ask the ref why he's made that desicion.

The top 4 clubs have the most divers, arrogant, impolite, whining players in the league. I can name a whole team from these clubs that fall under the above categories. Here it goes:                                                                                                                      Drogba(whining&diving), C.Ronaldo(whining&diving), Eboue(arrogance&whining), A.Cole(arrogance&whining), Terry(arrogance&aggressive behavior), Rooney(whining and aggresive behavior, Adebayor(arrogance)... ETC.

While i admit the premier league is the best league in the world due to the above named players, they seriously need to cut those type of habits out of their game. I'm sure the league would be a better place to play and better league to watch if those things were disposed of.

Thanks
