Tazz Is Gone from the WWE? Come Get the Facts

Joe Burgett Apr 1, 2009

For about one day, 21 hours, and 35 minutes straight, I have seen nothing but "Tazz Released from WWE" articles both here on B/R and across the web.

Some of you have a little bit of the story, but that's it. Just a "little bit." You need the full story.

Good thing the B/R Wrestling News Correspondent is here to set things straight. I am tired of seeing these haphazard pieces some of you have passed off as news articles, and although I have tried to get away from news stuff, I want to state some of the facts.

First off, Tazz did not get released by the WWE; his contract expired. The SmackDown color man has been in the WWE for close to 10 years now, both as a wrestler and announcer.

He has been bumping heads with Vince McMahon for a little while and has been chewed out plenty over the years.

But he has not been yelled at for the last few months, as some of you have heard, though he's been due. Getting yelled at is part of being an announcer (as Nick Foley once said), but that matter is not why Tazz is hitting the road. He has been an announcer for a long time; had he wanted to leave, he would have done it already. Besides, he can opt out of his contract, you know.

He has a 90-day no-compete clause, but his wrestling days are long gone. And he knows that as well as anyone, so TNA rumors need to be killed, and now.

Sure, he could join them as an announcer, but they have two good ones already (despite the stupid Don West heel turn).

He did what was said to be his last show Monday for the SmackDown taping. Afterwards, he told people "good-bye" and even hugged a few fans. He bid Vince and other the McMahons farewell as well.

He said he would do the WrestleMania PPV if they wanted him to. I could see them picking him up for the event just to maintain continuity.

I'd assume JR will have the former ECW Champion with him live at WrestleMania.

The whole tension between the McMahons and Tazz should end before it gets out of hand. Sure, Tazz was yelled at, but Vince yells at everyone. Come on, he even yelled at Triple H from time to time.

No one can say that he left because he felt uncomfortable with Vince. Anyway, he had been planning to go along when his contract ended.

It was not something that just popped into the WWE's or Tazz's mind. For me, he is still a Hall of Famer and should be treated as such. We'll see who takes his spot at the announcer's table.

That's for the WWE to decide. Who do you think it'll be?

For now, good-bye, Tazz, and good luck in all your future endeavors.

The quality of Joe Burgett's news articles is greater than other news articles across the net.
