Fantasy Report Texas Edition
Here are five drivers you'll want to give a good look at for this week's Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway:
Carl Edwards
Edwards swept both 2008 races at Texas and is always a threat to win at any of the 1.5-mile speedways on the Sprint Cup schedule.
Looking to rebound after a bad week at Martinsville, I expect a strong run out of the No. 99 team this Sunday.
Dale Earnhardt Jr.
I'm surprising myself with this pick, but I honestly believe that we will see a return to form of sorts for Junior and his crew chief, Tony Eury Jr.
Junior took the pole at Texas last spring and I look for him to qualify up front again and bring home a solid top 10 finish.
Ryan Newman
While he has been somewhat inconsistent in his performances at Texas, the last two weeks are spurring a return to form for Newman.
He will definitely be a threat for the Coor's Light Pole Award and should continue his streak of top-10 finishes.
Kyle Busch
One thing you never want a driver as talented as Busch to be is motivated.
After a very disappointing weekend at Martinsville, and catching flack for his post-race actions on Monday, Busch will pull into Texas with a fire under his butt.
I look for him to silence his critics with a win on Sunday.
Underdog: Bobby Labonte
The native Texan is probably one of the most underrated drivers currently in the Sprint Cup series. A return home will be good for Labonte and I look for him to bring his Ford home in the top 15, if not better.
Martinsville Results
For the most part, it was a good day for my picks at Martinsville, with five of six placing in the top 15. Anytime you correctly pick three of the top five finishers, it is a good day.
The only bad pick was Kyle Busch, who struggled all day long and was relegated to a 24th-place finish.
Jimmie Johnson-Winner
Denny Hamlin-2nd
Jeff Gordon-4th
A.J. Allmendinger-9th
Marcos Ambrose-14th
Kyle Busch-24th
