With a huge recruiting weekend coming up for Ohio State, another name has been added to the list of official visits. Junior College wide receiver Corey Smith, who is currently committed to Mississippi State, will be making his way to Columbus according to Scout.com’s Bill Greene.

Corey Smith is a similar prospect to Shelton Gibson, as they both have elite athletic ability. Listed at 6’1", 190 pounds, Smith is rated a 4-Star by Scout.com.

Before Smith’s commitment to Mississippi State, there seemed to be a mutual interest between him and Ohio State. However, with the Buckeyes pursuing a handful of other prospects too, Smith gave his commitment to the Bulldogs and seemingly put an end to his recruitment.

One thing to remember though, when you recruit against Urban Meyer, nothing is a done deal.

It will be interesting to see what unfolds this weekend with Smith. There’s no question that Ohio State has an interest in Smith since they are bringing him in for an official visit at this point in time.

Could we see Corey Smith flip over to Ohio State?  Nothing is certain, but it wouldn’t be shocking to see Urban Meyer land yet another highly regarded talent.

Remember, Smith played his high school football in Ohio, so there’s familiarity with him and the Buckeye’s football program. Growing up in Ohio, I’m sure he understands what it would mean to play for the Scarlet and Gray. We’ll see if he pulls the trigger over the weekend.
