Sebastien Bassong Or Joleon Lescott: Who Should Arsenal Sign?
Rumours have gradually begun to circulate about Arsenal.
It seems Newcastle defender Sebastien Bassong is to join the Gunners next season to replace William Gallas.
It has also been reported that Everton defender Joleon Lescott is top of Arsene Wengers shopping list for 2009/2010.

Both are very talented defenders, but surely Arsenal do not need, and cannot afford, two centre-halves.
So who should Arsenal sign?
Left footed Frenchmen Sebastien Bassong has expressed interest in joining Arsenal and would fit into the Gunners youthful squad nicely.
The 22 year old is a solid, reliable defender with a big future. He has shown good strength at Newcastle and has the ability to become a "rock" in the backline.
Due to his no nonsense defending, and suprising speed, he has become a fan favourite at Newcastle.
Newcastle would hate to see the Frenchmen leave but I feel he would be a great addition to the Arsenal squad.
Joleon Lescott is a talented defender who is solid in the tackle. The versatile Englishmen is said to be top of Arsene Wenger's shopping list, and the Arsenal manager is prepared to pay £10 million for the England international.
Lescott is an experienced player who is versatile, solid, and consistent, but a tad injury prone. He reads the game well and has a handy knack for finding the back of the net.
Bassong would be a lot cheaper for Arsenal, and it's unlikely Everton would sell their centre-half for £10 million.
Personally, due to his youthfulness and defensive ability, I would prefer Sebastien Bassong to Joleon Lescott, but would not mind seeing either of them in red and white next season.
Both are more than capable of replacing William Gallas, and both would strengthen Arsena'ls back line. However, I think Johan Djourou and Phillippe Senderos would be ahead of them in the pecking order.
So who would you rather at Arsenal; Sebastien Bassong, the talented Frenchmen at Newcastle, or Joleon Lescott, the Everton and England defender?
