LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and More Sports Stars Ring in the New Year
While you were busy poppin' bottles and celebrating a raucous New Year's Eve, some of the biggest sports stars were doing the same.
Here is our chance to take you on a pleasant jaunt around the far corners of the sports world to bring you what some of the best athletes were doing on New Year's Eve.
From rekindling romances to getting in some extra work in the gym, the biggest and brights stars took to Twitter and Instagram to wish the world a prosperous new year.
We do the same and plunge into the waning moment of a great 2012.
Samantha Steele
1 of 10Samantha Steele fit a few years' worth of moments into 2012. She began dating, became engaged and then married Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder.
Here she is showing off with the crew on New Year's Eve. Extra dap goes to David Pollack, who is wigging out on the right.
LeBron James and Fiancee
2 of 10This is how a King celebrates the new year, with his fiancee, Savannah Brinson. It seems like he is about to go live it up at a party so wild it mandates the use of camouflage pants.
When he brought in 2012, the King was living it up and popping more than bottles. Last year's festivities included a proposal to his baby boo.
Brandon McCarthy and Wife
3 of 10The obligatory celebration shot comes courtesy of Amanda McCarthy, wife of Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon McCarthy.
The past year was certainly a memorable one for the two, with McCarthy taking a horrifying line drive to the head back in September.
Thankfully, he has healed and will now take on National League hitters as he changes uniforms and pitches for Arizona.
Both are rather hilarious on Twitter and deserve your follow.
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union
4 of 10Here is a picture posted to Dwyane Wade's Instagram featuring his girlfriend, actress Gabrielle Union.
You would think Union just heard a funny joke, but that's how anyone looks when they come into contact with the shirt Wade is wearing. You can't be near that thing with a straight face.
Erin Andrews
5 of 10Here is everyone's favorite sideline reporter at New Year's along with some highfalutin company.
On the left is John Legend, who was crooning his heart out the night before at Haze nightclub in Las Vegas.
Kobe and Vanessa Bryant
6 of 10Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa continue to rekindle their romance with a night out on New Year's Eve.
TMZ has video of Bryant and his wife leaving BOA Steakhouse Monday night; they didn't look all that happy.
Then again, the last thing you want after a huge steak dinner is a bunch of flashbulbs going off in your face.
Lolo Jones
7 of 10If you are looking for a party, don't give Lolo Jones a call. Here is what she tweeted to the masses on New Year's Day.
"HapPy neW yeAR! As I went to practice at 6am I saw people leaving the club. I'm in Switzerland so I believe they were chocolate wasted
— Lolo Jones (@lolojones) January 1, 2013"
Really? Feel free to sneak in a cheat day, you go-getter.
Usain Bolt
8 of 10If you are the world's fastest person, you take things a lot slower on New Year's Eve. Here is what Bolt tweeted to his followers.
"COD into the new year game on instagr.am/p/T7QpVmocd2/
— Usain St. Leo Bolt (@usainbolt) January 1, 2013"
Amar'e Stoudemire
9 of 10Things are looking up for Amar'e Stoudemire. He was at one of the best concerts available to ring in the New Year, posting, "The Cold Play and Jay-Z concert. With my lioness @alexisastoudemire at Brooklyn, NY." to his Instagram.
Then comes news that he is ready and healthy enough to play. Per the Sporting News, Stoudemire will finally get back on the court, playing against the Portland Trail Blazers Tuesday night.
Brett Anderson
10 of 10Brett Anderson, as he is everyday on Twitter, was funny.
He started off the night with vital stats.
"There's about a 9.8% chance I stay awake until midnight tonight.
— Brett Anderson (@BrettAnderson49) December 31, 2012"
He then had a realization (NSFW language).
""Holy shit! I can wear sequins!!!"-girls getting ready for New Year's Eve.
— Brett Anderson (@BrettAnderson49) January 1, 2013"
And then, another brilliant thought.
"It's understandable why people get so hammered on NYE...because who wants to be coherent enough to see/hear other people sloppily makeout.
"
