And the Bleacher Report Award Goes To…

Tim Pollock
Mar 25, 2008

Having been a part of Bleacher Report for a good four months now, I felt it was time to stop analyzing others and pay tribute to ourselves for a second.Ā Ā Ā Ā

Maybe it’s because I’m a nosy person, but reading the bio’s of other writers is entertaining to me.Ā  And we certainly have some characters on Bleacher Report.Ā

That said, I spend the majority of my time checking college football and basketball, the NBA, and the NFL pages.Ā  My apologies if I have not sufficiently represented the NHL, EPL, and MLB pages.Ā

Without further ado, let’s get to the Bleacher Report Writer Awards nominees.Ā  I will refrain from choosing winners.Ā  That’s your job.Ā Ā Ā

Best PictureĀ Ā Ā Ā

- Without a doubt, Alberti’s shirtless picture would have won hands-down, but for those who haven’t noticed yet, he recently switched to the mysterious yellow house.Ā  Ryan, how could you?Ā

- Trey Bradley:Ā  Nothing beats a Mangino picture.Ā Ā Ā Ā

- Eric Brown:Ā  Sort of creepy but wins you over. Ā  Bio is worth a read, too. Ā

- Andrew Gordon:Ā  Like I just got a Nintendo for the first time again.Ā

- Marty Andrade:Ā  I have no idea what’s going on here.Ā  Apparently I am supposed to know who this is.Ā  I unfortunately do not. Ā

- Wes Howard:Ā  Again, a little creepy.

- Dave Nemetz:Ā  Not funny, but a classic.

Best BioĀ Ā Ā Ā

- Jux Berg:Ā  This dude is hilarious.Ā

- Elisabeth Galina:Ā  Some would say long-winded, but worth the read.Ā Ā Ā Ā

- Ben Allaire: A bit eccentric, and the picture adds to it.Ā Ā Ā Ā

- Dave Finocchio:Ā  Nice balance of humor and seriousness.Ā  Gets assistance from the picture.Ā Ā Ā Ā

- Adnan Tezer:Ā  Nobody links a bio and a picture together better.Ā  Plus it’s literary, and that’s cool.Ā

- David Boduch:Ā  Brief but good.Ā  The picture completes it.

- Kevin Brown:Ā  Between the picture and the bio, this is good stuff. Ā

- Eric Jackson:Ā  What can I say, I like the honesty about this one.Ā Ā

Most Underrated WriterĀ Ā Ā Ā

There is only one candidate:Ā  Tim CaryĀ Ā Ā Ā

This guy gave up four days of his life (March Madness Marathon) for Bleacher Report; he writes well; he comments frequently.Ā  And only two fans?Ā  Shame on Bleacher Report.Ā

Read this man’s stuff!

Nicest WriterĀ Ā Ā

- Jake Widlowski:Ā  Not only does this guy write ā€œthanksā€ every other word, his ā€œDear Bleacher Reportā€ article single-handedly got the Bleacher Report t-shirt wave started.Ā  It has since morphed into a lunchbox line.Ā Ā Ā

- Jay Middleton:Ā  The ā€œoffensive linemanā€ of Bleacher Report:Ā  does all the work but doesn’t get the glory.Ā  Jay is an awesome editor, and always has something good to say about your work, even if it stinks.Ā

- Erick Blasco:Ā  Don’t let the quasi-ā€œgang symbol/mean faceā€ picture fool you—Erick will break you off with a ā€œGreat article!ā€ or ā€œThanks so much!ā€ or ā€œI appreciate it!ā€ before you finish posting your article or comment.Ā  He’s even been known to drop the ā€œLOLā€ when the comment is really more of a ā€œI sort of chuckled when I read this.ā€Ā

- Zander Freund:Ā  We all get the posts on our boards and the e-mails, prodding us on to better work, praising us for our efforts, or thanking us.Ā  Zander is the guy that makes moms say, ā€œWhat a nice young man.ā€Ā Ā

Most Productive WritersĀ Ā Ā Ā

If Bleacher Report had a fantasy team, these guys would be the first picks.Ā  These dudes are stat-fillers:Ā Ā Ā

I’d write something about each one, but they would all say the same thing.Ā  All of these writers have a ton of articles, comments, and fans.Ā  Kudos, gentlemen…

- Sean Crowe, aka SeanMCĀ Ā Ā Ā

- John FennellyĀ Ā Ā Ā

- Michael WhittenbergĀ Ā Ā

- Andrew McNairĀ Ā Ā Ā

- Ron JohnsonĀ Ā Ā Ā

- Trey BradleyĀ Ā Ā

Best CommentsĀ

These guys not only make comments, they practically write articles within articles.Ā  Always ready to give feedback, these two bring it:Ā Ā Ā

- David Williams:Ā  David is Mr. Well Rounded of comments, making his way to each page and offering insight.

- Robert H. Spain:Ā  Robert’s been on a bit of a hiatus lately, but his comment numbers are still ridiculously high.Ā Ā

I hope I did justice to the site’s contributors.Ā  It’s been fun getting to know more and more of you.Ā Ā

My apologies to anyone I forgot.Ā

Feel free to chime in with your own suggestions.Ā
