Fantasy Report Martinsville Edition
Five key drivers to consider for your Fantasy team this week at Martinsville:
1. Denny Hamlin: The now senior member at Joe Gibbs Racing loves the paperclip known as Martinsville Speedway. My fellow Virginian has only one finish outside of the top eight in his seven career races here, with one win last spring. Also with Kyle Busch doing all the winning at JGR, Hamlin definitely has something to prove this weekend.
2. Jimmie Johnson: Do I really need to say anything about this one. Three wins in the past five races at Martinsville, with the other two finishes being third and fourth. Look for him to use this race to begin a climb up the point standings.
3. Jeff Gordon: A 41 race winless streak, and people saying that he won't get a fifth championship is more then enough fire under Gordon's butt to spur him to a top-five, if not a win at Martinsville.
4. Kyle Busch: Another one of those picks that goes without saying. The man is on a roll, and looks to continue the recent dominance of the Busch brothers to four wins in a row and inch closer to the top of the points.
5. Underdog pick(s) Marcos Ambrose and A.J. Allmendinger: This week, I'm going to cheat and have two underdog picks for Martinsville. Ambrose is riding a giant confidence boost from a top-10 at Bristol and I look for him to continue that roll and get his team locked solidly in the top-35 in owner points. Allmendinger has got to be feeling good about his season after getting more races added on to his schedule and inspired to show his team and sponsors that he deserves a full schedule. Keep in mind of the four Richard Petty Motorsports teams he is second in the point standings ahead of Elliott Sadler and Reed Sorenson.
