The Big Show Future WWE Champion? Huge Storyline Missed or Avoided by the WWE?
Now this may not be news to some, but the Big Show was considered a legitimate World Champion contender by the WWE. So much so that they were going to have him win a World Title sometime in 2009.
How you may ask? They were going to put him in the Money in the Bank Ladder match. As you may know, if you win the MITB Ladder Match you are able to cash in the briefcase for any World Title in the WWE within a year's time.
All who have cashed it in have won a title. So that would mean Show would win a World title very soon?
Now Vince McMahon changed this from happening as the whole Wrestlemania picture was switched about when Batista was injured months prior.
He was set to take on John Cena in a heated rivalry, and Show would have been in the Ladder Match. Since Batista was injured, the storyline was scrapped. McMahon believes we have seen Cena and Edge far too much, Show was put in it to liven it up a bit more.
Some question the move. Others say it is the best alternative. Me? I wonder why the WWE even thought about having Big Show as a World Champion anyway.
There are so many others so consider, and Show is not the best for the job in my opinion. Now was it a missed or avoided storyline? That is the question.
Because he is considered by some in management to be worth a title run, but to many fans, he is not. Fans or management? I think they chose fans.
Of course some fans do like Show, and that's cool. Just like some like Cena and others do not. Some would say if that is the same case, why is Cena a World Champion a lot?
I think it is the fact that Cena is worth the time and effort as he is in better shape and can do more to benefit the company. The younger wrestler has appeal helps get younger fans and female fans.
Show may be good on the mic, and dominant in the ring, but he is not worth all the hype ,in my opinion, that Cena gets.
When he was younger you could build around him, but now with so many new stars and established wrestlers like Triple H, Edge, and Randy Orton it is tough to say Big Show would be a great World Champion.
Some say he is due, and I can see their point. But unless the WWE is bound by contract to make him a World Champion, I just don't see it.
I think the only reason they even considered the possibility was because Show is going to be in a WWE Films project, A boxing comedy called "Suckerpunch".
Big Show plays a boxer, obviously, and since many say he is a jokster backstage, he would be perfect for comedy.
Which I can understand of course. The WWE does needs to realize they can't make everyone a World Champion after a movie comes out.
Just as I don't see Ted Dibiase becoming a World Champion after Marine 2 comes out, I do not see Show becoming one either.
Now that is not to say they both will not get a push. Big Show is main eventing at Wrestlemania!
Dibiase is a part of Legacy, which will probably help out Orton at Wrestlemania 25. Also I could see him win the IC Title Tourny I am sure will happen after JBL retires at Mania.
But we will have to wait and see on that.
So is the storyline missed or avoided by McMahon and the WWE? You know my pick
