The Undertaker's Wrestlemania Streak and a Fitting Farewell

Scott BeebyMar 25, 2009

The Phenom has come to be one of our favourite wrestlers in the industry. We can all respect his achievements over the years but most importantly, the legendary Wrestlemania streak.

Heading into this years Wrestlemania he has a 16-0 record, and who better to take him on at the biggest stage in sports entertainment than Shawn Michaels? This match will be an absolute classic, and I'm already salivating at the possibilities in this match.

Once WM25 has come and gone, we are all going to be left wondering, 'who's next?'.

From the current roster of wrestlers the Undertaker has already defeated:

  • Kane (twice)
  • Triple H
  • Big Show
  • Randy Orton
  • Mark Henry
  • Batista
  • Edge

Now without having to go through the same opponents, there are only a limited amount of quality matches that could live up to the streak.

  • Jeff Hardy - Pencil it in for Wrestlemania 26.
  • Chris Jericho - Outstanding worker. The best heel in WWE would be suited to this match.
  • John Cena - Not the golden child!! I don't think that Vince would ever let this happen.
  • Christian - He's only been back in WWE for a short time, but already he's proved that he is another very good worker of a match. It depends on whether Vince ever takes a shine to him.
  • Punk - If he keeps rising through the ranks the way he is now, who knows?
  • Mr. Kennedy - Already having a feud a few years back, Kennedy has proven that he can hold his own against The Deadman.
  • Rey Mysterio - I can't see it happening.
  • Steve Austin - Is there even a remote chance of 'Stone Cold' returning for another outstanding performance?
  • Tag Team - Brothers of Destruction vs. DX or Edge & Christian
  • Fatal Four Way - Several of The Undertaker former opponents could band together for revenge.
  • 3 Stages of Hell - Just the name sounds like it is a match created for 'Taker.

Whatever happens, I believe that the best way to send off Undertaker would be to have his final match at Wrestlemania, finishing with a 20-0 record.

I could see him making infrequent appearances leading up to this, or even having him return to WM after being buried alive and he is someone's 'mystery opponent'.

Undoubtedly he will go down in the books as one of the greatest wrestlers in history and we are all privileged to see him in action.

BRING ON WRESTLEMANIA!
