NBA: Kobe Bryant Deserves MVP Award This Year
I am getting sick of hearing all the excuses and reasons not to give Kobe Bryant the MVP award this year.
Last season, Kobe was the best player in the league by a country mile, but this season LeBron James has closed the gap.
Kobe averaged 31.6 points, 5.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds while playing 40 minutes a game last season. This season, he has only been playing 38 minutes a game and as a result his points per game has dropped by two but his assists per game have stayed the same and rebounds up to 6.2.
He has become more of a team player and has been a big part in the Lakers success this season.
Last season, the excuse was, the Lakers didn't win enough games (42-40) for Bryant to deserve this award and it went to Dirk, whose team had the best record. But Kobe was still known as the best player in the league. So you would think now, since the Lakers have one of the best records in the league, he should get the award right?
Wrong.
This year, people are using a different excuse as to why Kobe shouldn't get the award but LB should. James means more to his team than Kobe, so he should get the award. If this was really the case, Kobe should have won the award last season because no one was more valuable to his team that Kobe was.
It is a known fact that a lot of people dislike Kobe for his attitude off the court and for other off-court incidents.
People don't like him because they say he’s a ball hog. But all this aside, the MVP award goes to the “most valuable player,” which this season is obviously Kobe Bryant.
He’s getting his teammates involved, he steps up when he has to down the stretch, and with him doing all this, the Lakers are leading the Western Conference.
People need to stop making excuses as to why he doesn't deserve this award and just give it to him. The award is a long time overdue for Kobe and I just hope this season he finally gets what he deserves.
