Oh the agony of beingย a fan of the Toronto Maple leafs. When, if ever will we get to see our team hold up Lord Stanley? The last time our beloved team won? 1967.

1967! Thatย was 42 years ago atย a timeย when it wasย was a six team league. Most Toronto fansย were still loading their diapersย or were not even born yet. In fact the whole team playing todayย was not even born or even a thought for that matter.

1967! Thatโ€™s ancient history. Since 1967 Torontoโ€™s other sports teams have a championship or two. And those wins are in our recent memories. The Blue Jays Back to Back World Series, the Toronto Argonauts have won the Grey Cup four times. The Toronto Raptors are excused because they are still a young team. But the Leafs? There really is no excuse why we have not had the most coveted of all championships; the Stanley Cup.

1967: The war in Vietnam was in full swing. The Beatles released Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Super Bowl one was first played between Green Bay and Kansas City. The fifth James Bond movie โ€œYou only live twice was released. The Monkeeโ€™s were at the height of popularity.

1967: There were no cell phones, Cable or Satellite television, home computers, XBOX, Nintendo, Multiplex movie theatres, CDs, DVDs, Diet Coke or Diet anything for that matter.

1967: The VCR had not been invented yet, 8 track cassettes were in their infancy, and Woodstock was 2 years away as well was the first Moon Landing of Apollo 11. 1967 was a lifetime ago, heck it was 2 generations ago maybe more.

ย Allย that Toronto fans are asking for, is just one just a tiny glimmer of hope of seeing our beloved Leafs hold up the cup. To proclaim to the world, "Hey, Toronto is the city of champions, we won the Stanley Cup". We donโ€™t want to wait another 40 plus years for CDs, DVDโ€™s Cell phoneโ€™s to all be antiquated relics. We want our Cup and we want it now. Oh the agony, oh the pain, oh the sorrow of being a Leafs fan.
