It's Been a Great Year For Miami Sports

Paul SmytheMar 25, 2009

Wow!

Isn't it amazing how one season can change things so much? Just one season ago, I was a fan of the worst two teams in their sport, the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Heat

The Dolphins had just come off of the worst season in the history of the NFL (until Detroit this year), and the Heat couldn't even reach 20 wins, even though every other team in the NBA was able to.

This year, the Dolphins made the playoffs as an AFC East Champion for the first time in forever. The Dolphins were lead by:

  1. A re-energized veteran in Chad Pennington and his receiving cast
  2. An amazing running back combination
  3. A genius for a head coach

I can't forget Bill Parcells either, because I'm pretty sure the "Big Tuna" had a lot to do with the double-figure's in the win column this year.

The Heat are on track to be a contender for the NBA finals this year and next year, with MVP candidate Dwyane Wade leading the way. Wade has already broken the Heat's single-season scoring record and, with a help from mid-season acquisitions Jermaine O'Neal and Jamario Moon, is leading the Heat into the playoffs.

Wade is having a career year and cannot be stopped. He can be very dangerous no matter what defense he is facing. He is leading the league in points scored and probably won't lose that title any time this year.

I can't wait until next year!

The Dolphins have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs again and even possibly the Super Bowl.

The Heat also have a great shot to go deep into the playoffs next year, even if they can't this year. Trust me, that won't be a problem because the Heat are very capable of going the distance this year.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best for the upcoming year.
