Red Sox Offseason Review, Bonus: Lineup Included
The Red Sox really added depth to their team this season. The team will not have to worry too much about injuries.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Acquired RHP Ramon Ramirez from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for OF Coco Crisp.
Who? I don't know about this trade, now Rocco will have to fill Crisp's hole.
Signed RHP Junichi Tazawa to a three-year contract.
Great idea, but all the money spent on him? Too much!
Signed C Josh Bard to a one-year contract with a club option for 2010.
Assuming Varitek's not coming back, he's a weak catcher to replace him, but he will be a good backup for the catcher we all know is back.
Signed free agent OF Rocco Baldelli, who had been with the Rays, to a one-year contract. Designated RHP Charlie Zink for assignment.
Great move. Part of that whole depth-adding idea.
Signed RHP Brad Penny to a one-year contract. Sent RHP Charlie Zink outright to Triple-A Pawtucket. He had been designated for assignment on January 8.
Added to the rotational depth, and will probably be the five pitcher, if he's healthy.
Signed RHP John Smoltz to a one-year contract. Designated RHP David Pauley for assignment.
Good to add depth, for when Penny's injured!
Re-signed C Jason Varitek to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2010. Sent OF/1B Jeff Bailey outright to Triple-A Pawtucket and invited him to Spring Training. Still an okay catcher, glad to see him back. Here's their line-up and rotation: CF; Ellsbury: |
2B; Pedroia: DH; Ortiz: LF; Bay: 1B; Youkilis: RF; Drew: 3B; Lowell: C; Varitek: SS; Lowerie: SP; Beckett: SP; Lester: SP; Matsuzaka: SP; Wakefield: SP; Penny: |
CL; Papelbon.
