Finally, Ballpark Village Finds Its Purpose

JoeSportsFanMar 23, 2009

Here in St. Louis, the giant pit of gravel and grass that resides in the spot adjacent to the new Busch Stadium has become an ongoing joke.

Previously home to the old Busch Stadium, it was sold to the public as the site of the new Ballpark Village—a trendy new retail/office/entertainment development to compliment the stadium in downtown St. Louis.

Since then, it has been home to a giant puddle, a dormant construction area and most recently a very large scale proclamation of the general sentiment held by Cardinals fans towards their rival to the north.

As the 2009 MLB All Star Game approaches at Busch in July, doing something, anything with the Ballpark Village site became a priority for the Cardinals and last week, their ultimate intentions were announced to the public.

To the surprise of pretty much everyone, the team released information about their plan to turn the barren land into...a softball field

That of course means that someone in the Cardinals front office figured that, if you’ve got several acres of prime downtown real estate that the baseball-watching nation will soon be descending upon, clearly the best use of that land is to create a playground aimed at quenching the undying thirst for adult softball.

Let's just say that we know one guy who thinks its about damn time. ###MORE###

Do yourself and those around you a favor today by putting someone in a sharpshooter until they pass out in a pool of their own blood.

if he, not like many people across the country, investigated the result of the Tennessee Lady Vols/Ball State Cardinals matchup?

“These ladies volunteered submission to Ball State - and the Cardinals crapped on them.”

Patrick Imig reports some of the lesser known subplots surrounding WrestleMania of yesteryear in a column aptly titled WrestleMania’s Untold Stories. Randy Savage does not approve.

Yea that’s right: We talked about WWE and ladies basketball multiple times this morning.
