Robert Foster to Alabama: Crimson Tide Land Top-Ranked Football Recruit

Ian HanfordJun 7, 2018

Robert Foster's recruiting saga has finally come to a close with the talented wide receiver taking his talents to Alabama, according to Fox Sports' John Garcia Jr.

"

5-star WR Robert Foster has announced his commitment to #Alabama

— John Garcia Jr. (@JohnGarcia_Jr) December 21, 2012"

Foster is listed as the No. 2 wide receiver in the nation by ESPN and the No. 8 receiver in the country by Rivals.com. He stands 6'3'' and has the skills to make an immediate impact at the college level.

According to Chris Peak of Panther-Lair.com, Foster caught 45 passes for 763 yards and eight touchdowns this season at Central Valley High School in Monaca, Pa. He also had 57 carries for 481 yards and 12 touchdowns, showing his versatility.

His skills go beyond that as well. Peak also mentions that, "He scored two more touchdowns on kick returns, took a punt return in for a score, and returned an interception to the end zone. He averaged almost 30 yards on punt and kick returns, and even averaged 40 yards per punt."

Watching this video alone should give you a good idea of what this kid is capable of:

Foster has the potential to be one of the best players in the nation. 247Sports' Bob Lichtenfels* mentions in his scouting report that Foster's strengths are his down-field ability, size and speed. The report also mentions that Foster needs to work on his route-running ability, but very few receivers enter college as polished players in that area.

College football fans should be excited to see Foster arrive. He's going to be a threat to go the distance whenever the ball is in his hands, and he should find himself toting the rock very often.

*Editor's Note: Bob Lichtenfels wrote the linked scouting report while a member of Scout.com's staff.  He has since transitioned to a job at 247Sports.
