Will The IPL Make The Same Amount Of Money It Made Last Time?
Well Well Well! IPL shifted outside India! Who knows how this will affect the people of India and the outsiders?
The Indian Premier League (IPL), which is scheduled to begin on April 10 2009, has been shifted outside India due to the unavailability of security. It will be held either in England or South Africa. Let us analyse the impact of this decision.
It will be the time of elections and most people will be busy in the elections.
Also many people can't afford to travel abroad and they also have to manage their work. In such circumstances the IPL will not gain much attention or viewers if it is held outside India.
In England there is already a ODI series going on between England and West Indies. So it will be difficult for the ECB (England Cricket Board) to manage the IPL. Also the English people will be busy watching the ODI series and the IPL will not have any viewers.
Who will be interested in an Indian domestic cricket tournament when there is an international tournament going on, in which their own country is playing. So this can be a major setback for the IPL and the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).
The T20 World Cup is going to take place in England just after the IPL. There will be a gap of just two weeks between the two events. So this will be a good preparation for the players, and players will not have to travel too much.
But the money the IPL made last time, and the money it will make this time will not be the same. It will make less money this time than it made last time. If it would have taken place in India it would have made more money. It will also get less viewership and attention. It will be very boring and the IPL fans will not be excited as much as they were last year.
The time difference will also affect the people in India as there will be a gap of four and a half hours between India and England.
The English players will play fairly well because they will be playing on their home ground.
I am talking about England because most probably it will take place in England. But who knows what will happen next. The BCCI may change its decision and it may take place in South Africa. But the fun we would have had if it were in India will be no longer there this year.
Best of Luck IPL and God please help the BCCI.
